Pros:

JCS course has a great mix of long 450-525 holes , (which is really surprising for a city park course), with shorter low 200ft range pins 1-6 and 15-17. Nice big , level concrete pads with the hole number and distance to pin on a metal plaque bolted to the pad. Sure, the park is flat with virtually no elevation, but that is a "pro" if you're lugging a cart , pushing your baby,a beginner, or a geezer like I have turned into. The longer holes ( 9, 13, 14 ) have trees that make you pick a hyzer or ani line, depending on the wind that day. Holes 15-17 are on an island that demand accuracy or you might lose your disc , but fun and scenic they are. The first 6 holes give the impression that it's a Rec course, but after those, it's intermediate . Bathrooms and a huge old pavilion from 1911 allow you to rest and eat, and pin 9 brings you back to your vehicle if you just want a quick 9. Yellow Discatcher pins easy to spot from afar.

Cons:

Could use a few more benches, trash cans, and alternate pin placements( i.e. longer), to mix it up and provide variety for the frequent visitor. Multi-use park with playgrounds and paths require caution while throwing.

Other Thoughts:

This is a fun course that has good variety for rec and pro alike, with ace run short holes and holes that need bomber arms. I would have played another 18 there back to back if I had the time. Extra pin placements, or if the city has the loot, to put in 2 sets of pins, 18 for Rec, 18 for Pro, and I would rate it a 3.75. Fun course, glad I played.
