1) Lightly wooded beginners course in Ashland City, TN just off the I-24 Interstate between Clarkesville and Nashville.

2) Pulls no punches at being a solid Beginner level course, and doesn't pretend to be anything more than that. At the same time the course offers manageable distances, "natural" to the park OB in the form of walking paths, with no real chance of losing a disc and no water hazards.

3) Each hole presents multiple wide fairways with several ways to attack the baskets regardless of right or left handed.

4) Tons of realistic ace runs on this course, especially for more seasoned players, that don't come with tons of punishment possible for aggressively running baskets and missing.

5) As with most all HB Clark courses, the course kiosk map, textured concrete tee pads, full color tee signs complete with hole maps and OB information, and Discatcher baskets are all top notch.

6) The park maintenance is well done, I've never been here and not seen the grass freshly mowed. Very clean park and multiple trash cans located throughout. Fairways are clear of underbrush and no real high grass to speak of.

7) Extremely easy and intuitive navigation, though a course map kiosk is provided, it really isn't needed. You can clearly see all the next tee signs from the previous basket and the course pretty much just plays in a circle counter clockwise. If this still isn't easy enough, there are next tee directional signs as well. No blind tee shots so you can see where you are throwing, and it also assists when the park is crowded with walkers/joggers as you can clearly see them approaching and hold off on your throw.

8) Extremely flat course and very cart friendly. Only tiny bits of elevation throughout, and hardly noticeable. Course is relatively small and can be played very quickly. Wonderful for older players and players with bad knees that can't tackle more difficult terrain.

9) Though I haven't attended, I understand that glow golf here is very popular and I can see why. The limited number of trees, open gaps, lack of underbrush, and lack of water hazards, all while being manageable par 3 distances make this course ideal for glow.

10) I love courses that play quickly with short walks between holes for when I am in a hurry, or want to get in a quick round after work. You can definitely make this loop in a half an hour or less alone, and probably under an hour with a full group.

1) The main con with courses designed for beginners is the lack of challenge, lack of signature holes, and overall repetitiveness that is a byproduct of these courses. It is hard to avoid and not an overwhelmingly bad thing, but hurts it as players outgrow it.

2) This course neither allows you to open up and let it fly, nor really challenges you to change discs. You can probably play this course with 3 discs depending on your skill level.

3) Hole #9 has a very forced and unnecessary double mando. I'm sure it exists to keep you from throwing near the walking trail, or to try and add some form of challenge to the final hole, but it really feels out of place on a beginner course.

4) Lack of any elevation change, maybe 5 feet up or down total for the entire course. While this is a positive for those with lower limb issues and old age, it hurts the overall course for everyone else.

5) Very small property with limited spacing between holes. Really errant shots can impede on other holes, though it takes some effort.

6) Extremely bland visually, lack of elevation, no water features, sparce trees, no rolling hills or mountains in the background. While this really can't be helped based on it's location, it makes it much harder to enjoy the scenery.

Do not let the relatively low (2.0 Reasonable) rating of this course overshadow the fact that the course is well done and perfectly tailored for its intended purpose. I only rate it this low as it is not deserving of a score a full 18, or much more difficult course for more skilled players should receive. As far as beginner 9 hole courses go, this is near top notch in design, maintenance and execution.

Not what I would call worth the effort or time to drop of I-24 and play this course unless you are trying to simply bag it as there are much better courses in the Nashville area. If I was local to the area though I would frequent it, especially for glow or to work on shaping my putter shots. We like to play this when we visit my friends elderly father in law, he lives nearby and this course is more his speed.

It's a starter course. Accept that before you play it or review it expecting Idlewild. Perfect starter course. Mostly straight. Experienced players will call it an ace run course. Only a few holes that really have gaps you have to hit. The Mando is weird, but it has a purpose to keep shots away from the longest and most crowded section of the walking track.

If it's rained it can be wet. The course is only about 2 feet above the river.

Fresh: The tee pads are new and appropriately sized. The signage is good. The baskets catch well. There is a practice basket available. This course is new and in a well-maintained park, and it shows.

Beginner Friendly: This course is not meant to be difficult. For the beginner player, it is a course to learn how to play the game and to gain confidence on a fairly simple layout. For a developing player, this is a good place to add different shots to your game and maybe start to get some ace runs. For the experienced player, this is AceRun City (a terrible pun of Ashland City), where you almost feel disappointed if you get par.

Mixed Use Park: It wasn't particularly crowded when I was there, but a walking path is intertwined with the course and I could see there being some delays to wait for pedestrians to move past.

...Too Beginner Friendly for Experienced Players: Outside of the Ace Runs, there is no real challenge to this course for experienced players, who will probably spend their time throwing an easy 250' drive and parking the hole 9 times out of 9.

That Double Mando on Hole 9: Both reviews posted at the time I wrote mine said something about it, so I will too... It makes no sense on this course, especially with the basket location. At most, a single mando on either side of the left tree would suffice; personally, if it were me, I would have rotated the teepad slightly and forced a mando to the left of the left tree, while keeping the OB road and basket where it is.

This course is good for what it is: a great place to bring the kids, the significant other, or the friend who is just getting into the game. It won't provide much for the experienced player outside of an afternoon of ace runs, but if that's what you're looking for, go ahead and give it a shot!

- BEGINNER FRIENDLY - This is a very solid Beginner and Novice level course, and they will love this course alike. No chance to lose a disc unless you put it high in a tree. The fairway lanes are wide and there are no water hazards. I could see higher skilled players popping off several aces a year here.
- TEE PADS - Excellent concrete pads for a course this short. 5 feet by 12 feet which seems to be the standard among newer HB Clark courses.
- MAINTENANCE - The grounds appear to be mowed weekly. The park was very clean and I saw a couple garbage cans along the layout. There are no areas of overgrowth along the course.
- NAVIGATION - One of the easiest courses to navigate that I've ever played. There is a course map near tee (1). All the next tees are spotable from the prior basket and the tee signs have next tee direction. Plus, there are no blind baskets and few trees. I'll also mention that the course is perfect for those that like to bring out their disc golf cart.
- NIGHT GOLF - This is an ideal night golf course. Spacious fairways, few trees, no overgrowth and no water hazards in play.
- QUICK PLAY - A single could easily complete a full 9 in under 30 minutes. Groups of 4 should probably finish in under an hour.

Short on uniqueness and void of a challenge.
- UNIQUENESS - On some courses you play, you'll look at your bag and realize you only have one disc that can maybe do what you need it do, to hit a fairway. Poole is the opposite. All the holes are simple, generally open or lightly wooded and can be approached with by multiple angles. The one exception is the unnecessary silly double mando on (9). Which I ignored and pared anyway.
- ELEVATION - Really none to speak of. The terrain is listed as mostly flat, but I'd relist it as glass if it were an option. I got one more. The terrain is listed as mostly flat, but I'd relist it as Florida if it were an option. Apologies to my Florida friends. No more than 5 feet of elevation change throughout the entire course layout.
- DIFFICULTY - Poole is not much of a challenge to Intermediate level players and above. None of the holes are exceedingly hard. Rec players that can throw 300 should have them all birdied in 10 rounds. Advanced players should average 6 or 7 down.
- CHARACTER - About average. There is only one set of tees. There is no seating except for a picnic table by the course map. The hole signage is respectable for this style of course. About half of the tees are shaded well. No multiple pin placements or picnic shelters.
- SPACING - Slightly below average. If the course were full, there would be a few tees that could be reached by an errant throw because of minimal tree protection. Also, a few fairways feel partially shared.
- RAW BEAUTY - The natural elements on and around this course are a bit below average. As stated above, no elevation changes, few trees and no water. The landscape is just too bland for my preference. The maintenance of the park is the only saving grace.

Local Recreational, Novices and Beginners may love this place. Considering the number of groups I saw at 3:45 on a Thursday, it seems like it's already developed a small local scene. The forgiving layout and maintenance of the park will make for a relaxing round that will boost confidence. As for Intermediate level players and above. They will come away untested. No reason for the out-of-state destination course pilgrim to venture here. There are plenty of better courses in the Nashville Metro area. Cedar Hill for example, is a much better nearby destination and is only a half hour from here. I scored Cedar Hill a solid 4 where as Poole is more like a low 2. Newer players will likely have a more favorable opinion of Poole compared to the veteran players like me.
- DRAINAGE - The course was extremely wet in a few spots on my play, especially on hole (5). I think there had been a string of raining days prior to my visit, but considering how flat it is, I would not be surprised if the course pooles up.

This course has a great layout for a small plot of land. The use of trees and low ceiling makes what would be a short easy hole, one that requires an accurate drive. This is not a course that will challenge an Intermediate or above player, but great for a true Novice or Rec player. I am a true Rec player, 840 rated and shot even, but missed several circle 1 edge putts.

The walking trail was busy the day that I played, so I had to wait on several holes for the people to clear. The path doesn't really come into play, but for safety reasons I waited.

There is a challenging Mando on hole 9, I would also add a Mando on the Pole on Hole 5 for safety and to add a challenge.
