how to spend very little money on a dgc 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 14, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Nice overall park with campground, shelter, bathrooms, playground.
+Half of the course is in the decently maintained camping area.
+The area overall is scenic with large trees and the river nearby.

Cons:

-Temp baskets that don't catch well and are already rusting. Two of them have large weeds growing up through them and overtaking them.
-Didn't see any tee markings, not sure if there ever were any. Tee off wherever you like in the grass.
-The land is overall low lying and prone to flooding. It appeared to have flooded this year and the back half of the course was still soggy and muddy.
-Hard to follow a course when you don't know where to throw from.
-Most of the back part of the course throws along or over the park roads.
-Could easily put a disc in the river and you probably won't get it back.
-First few holes play close to campers and other park activities.
-Missing at least one basket but it might have been two. I was frustrated with a lot of the course at the time.

Other Thoughts:

What they could do to make a better course here:
1. Permanent baskets. Those temp ones are going to fall apart in a few years.
2. At least put some kind of permanent tee markers. Actual concrete would be ideal.
3. Maintenance. It looks like the front part of this course is actually maintained where people camp and play but the back half is ugly.
4. Close the gate to cars on the back half. Eliminate the loop of road that is back there. This would allow them to be more creative with hole layout on the back part.

This park isn't hopeless but the course is in it's current state. I would be surprised if this course is still around in just 5 years. If the people that are in charge of this park don't prioritize the course at all, it will fade away into the river and the weeds. You can't just plop down 9 cheap baskets and think that you have created something fun and lasting.
