Out-of-the-way am course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 20, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The course is very easy to navigate, as all baskets are marked with large flags and hole #'s.
Would make a good beginner course, as well as a challenging putter/midrange course.
Holes 3,4,6, & 7 present some technical challenges to keep it interesting for more experienced players.
Lots of ace potential.

Cons:

Course is quite short and amateur oriented.
Baskets are cheap and installed very low to the ground, but at least they're chains.
All holes have the walkway in play, many pins located very close to the walkway.
Hole 3 drives directly over an RC car track.
Holes 5 and 6 are blind drives around corners of the pathway, use a spotter.
Natural tees, some in rough shape, directly adjacent to baskets.
No tee signs.
No grass on fairways from hole 6 onward (yet).
Course is linear and does not loop back to its start point, boring walk back to the car.

Other Thoughts:

The course is a quick nine installed in a newly developed park, and is very beginner friendly. The park is multi-use, so a walkway, RC car track, baseball diamond, and small rodeo arena come into play. Tees are marked by a landscaping timber that is buried horizontally in the ground immediately adjacent to the previous holes pin. I couldn't find a marker for the tee on hole 1, so I played it from the sidewalk near the parking lot. Holes 6 and 7 have tight fairways defined by fences from farmland and the rodeo arena. Seating for the arena is also located near hole 7, so this could pose a problem. Hole 8 will most likely have water in play after rainstorms, the pin is near a water catch-basin. 8 & 9 also provide the only mild elevation shots on the course. The course will hopefully get better with age, as it appears many new trees are being planted and fairways are being seeded. I posted some links to a scorecard and contact info, as well as some quick pics i took. Make note, the town is very small and does not have many services, so plan accordingly.
