Franconian Disc Golf 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 31, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is smaller (only 9 short holes) than I would want, but the owner has plenty of room to expand. There is parking available, and discs for renting. There are printed course maps at the hut. The course is clean and maintained. Tee sings at each hole are attractive and accurate.

Cons:

The 9 holes are short and not extremely challenging. 5 Euros per person for a 9 hole course is not ideal, but it is a private business course and the owner keeps the course maintained with these funds. No formal tee boxes on any hole. Watch out for Nettles on the first few holes.

Other Thoughts:

If you're looking for Disc Golf in the Franconian region, there are not many options, but this small course is worth the beautiful drive through the region. The owner explained to me that he would expand the course if there was more activity at the course, as he has plenty of land to use.

nice course for an average player 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 21, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Different types of shots required: hyzer, anhyzer, straight shots through the woods.

Cons:

Only 9 holes. Longest hole is slighlty over 100 m. But since this is the only course in this area it is OK.

Other Thoughts:

Difficulty depends strongly on the season. During fall it is much easier since there are a lot of dense bushes where you can throw you discs into.
For me it is OK to pay 5 Euros for a day despite the fact that this course is no real highlight. This course has been built by a company that offers outdoor sports. And obviously they want to make some profit out of it.

Fun course for families, but not Discgolf 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 14, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Where do I start with pros...well let's say the holes feature a good variety between open and wooded holes and wooded holes. Also I think the designer made the most out of what he was offered. There is just not much more space for longer or more holes.
Nearly forgot: I really like the last hole, really cool finishing hole drive.

Cons:

Holes are very short. You could play this with your putter, assuming you can backhand it 250' and maybe flick it 200'.
The tees aren't really marked. There is a sign but no real line in the ground that tells you where to start from. Sometimes when the area that you can throw from is small (due to slopes, high grass e.g.) the tee sign is really tight to the right side of the tee so that it really bothers you if you're not going 2 m back or forward.

Other Thoughts:

Well, to me there are 3 types of discgolf courses. Free2play in parks or whatever with average holes and distances, pedestrians walking around and stuff. then there are Pay2Play courses, mostly (they should be) well maintained, great holes and course design, especially a suitable environment. And then there are the Pay2play courses that weren't designed for discgolf but more for a family having fun at their weekend. And this cours eis one of the latter. I am not saying it is bad. I mean for a family that tries discgolf the first time it might be a fun course to go to and toss some frisbees. But for a "real" discgolfer and having to pay 5 € I'm not so sure about it. I went here because it was on my way to Nuremberg, so if you drive by here you might as well take a stop. But I honestly wouldn't recommend driving >1 h to get here. Unless of course you're with your friends or family and want to have some fun :)
