Pros:
- New baskets
- pretty good finishing holes (16-18)
- course map available
- well marked temporary tees (two green flags with hole #s)
- mowed fairway paths where necessary
- restrooms on course
- Padlocks point to next tee
- sand/gravel around all the baskets in 5'-6' circle
- upcoming cement tee pads will be 4' x 12'
- good use of edge of lake and trees on a number of holes
- Park Supervisor is very interested in making this course better
Cons:
- No tee pads...yet
- No distances...yet
- No tee signs
- padlocks point to next tee and are often hidden from view
- Tee 1 is on the dam road and you have to throw between to rock pillars which restricts throwing motion
- Tee 4 is too close to basket 3 and can't be seen from tee 3
- there are a couple of camping sites in or very close to holes and fairways
- a couple of holes force the players to walk through other fairways to get to the next tee
Other Thoughts:
My buddy and really enjoyed the course. It's not real long, but there is also nothing else quite like it in the area. Holes 1-5, 16 and 17 are different than the others with drastic up/down, trees and water. The other holes are more rolling with tall grass and a number of blind baskets because of the rolling landscape. It would be helpful to put flags on a number of baskets to make them visible from tee. We visited with the Park Supervisor and shared some of our perspectives. He assured us the sites in and around the holes/fairways are seldom used. He also noted he would move Tee 4 back and away from basket 3 which will also make Hole 4 a bit more interesting. He also understands the need to create save walking paths from basket to tee. We also suggested he paint/tape the baskets to point to next tee instead of using the padlocks. With it only being playable for 4 days and the Park Supervisor so interested in making it a good course I may very well rate it higher in the future.
