Pros:

Mendota Lake DGC plays through a nice little multiuse park. The course is tucked all the way in the back of the park and plays counterclockwise around the northwest section of the park starting and ending by the parking lot.

The baskets are brand new looking Innova Discatcher Pros. There's a mix of yellow and red banded ones. Both are highly visible and they all catch great. It appears there's one pin placement per hole.

The flow of the course is pretty straightforward since it basically plays from basket to basket. I'd advise using the Udisc map to find the exact tee locations but it's easy enough without a map.

The first couple holes have the basket tucked up to the treeline and hole 3 has a creek not too far behind the basket. Holes 5,6, 8 and 9 all have some trees involved in the fairway. Hole 9 is probably my favorite hole. This one has the most trees in play as well as the park road off to your left the whole way.

The park was immaculately maintained when we played it. The course is permanent and free to play.

Cons:

Hole 4's basket was not where it was supposed to be so we had to play an abbreviated layout. There was a basket that didn't fit in with the map that I assume is the basket for hole 4. I thought it was a practice basket at first but that doesn't make sense with the location of it. It can still be played as a 9 hole loop using this basket, it just won't match the map on Udisc.

There's some horrendous design flaws here. First off, holes 1 thru 3 play across some soccer fields. So if anybody is using them you're missing a third of the course. Hole 7 plays along the baseball fence to the left and the parking lot to the right for the whole length of the hole. There's about 10' of grass to land on the whole way. The combo concrete/gravel "fairway" to the right of the strip of grass is going to tear up discs. Not to mention it's a parking area so this hole won't be playable at all times either. If you throw from basket to basket, hole 8 has you throwing of that same parking lot AND the park road.

There's no tee pads or signs here. Without a map it's just a basket to basket kind of set up. With the way the course is layed out it's not even good for a safari layout.

Other Thoughts:

If the park is not busy it's kinda worth a visit here. If it is you might as well skip it. There's no way you'll know one way or the other though. I can't really recommend this one for the numerous cons and lack of knowing if you even can play it.

With the design flaws and lack of anything other than baskets, which are really nice, this is just a poor course. Pretty disappointed with this one. Play it only if you must.
