Pros:
-Good Baskets (including 2 new or 2 newly painted)
-Decent signage
-OK use of the space
-Appears to be disc golf only area
-Some good risk/reward opportunities with water and lots of trees in play
-Each hole is named for a constellation
Cons:
-Natural tees
-Area can flood (takes out most of course)
-More space to work with, could have made 12 or more
-Runs a single tee with multiple pars (ie, Amateur Par 6, Pro Par 4)
-Not much for benches / trashcans
Other Thoughts:
Strohbehn Park on the north side of Reinbeck, IA is home to the Milky Way Galaxy DGC. An above average 9 hole park course plays around a winding creek and many old growth trees. Each hole is named for a constellation (noted on the tee signs.) While there are decent lines to most of the baskets, there are a couple of risk/reward holes along the creek (notably #2 and #7). Not just a pitch n putt course with an average of ~285' per hole gives some good interest. No elevation, but plenty of trees to work around with a nice tunnel shot on #6. The proximity to the creek can make the course unplayable if the creek floods (my first attempt at playing here had most of the course under water). Adding concrete tee pads, keeping up with the mowing, fixing the downed tee sign for #8 would all add to the rating for me. A little hidden gem that was longer and more interesting than I thought, I will probably play here again.
