Great practice course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 29, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Excellent practice course with long shots and few tree obstacles
Good signs at tees
Nice scenery
Easy to play a quick round
Easy access to highway and services

Cons:

Pay to park
Could use a few "next tee" signs

Other Thoughts:

This is a nice course. As a beginner, it is a great place to practice distance shots and not worry about hitting trees or going into ditches. There is a lake near a couple of baskets but you'd have to throw wicked wonky for it to go in the water.

Not The Easiest To Navigate! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 24, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Mojave Narrows is a large sprawling park which seems to attract the local fishermen to the shores of Horseshoe Lake. The disc golf course is set at the very back of the park tight on the shore of the lake. It's a lovely setting for the course. I hate to disagree with the previous reviewer but Mojave Narrows is about as far from being a technical course as a Prius is from being a Formula One car. The front nine is fairly wide open with some holes having nothing but green grass as obstacles. The back nine plays in a typical park picnic area with scattered trees.

I think this course is perfect for ........bringing those new or beginning players who can't really control their throws yet. Because this course is so wide open and forgiving, those types won't get into much trouble here and will have a great time.

The course has nice concrete tee pads. The baskets are Innova Discatchers with the small numbers on the band. What's missing is the tee signs. I needed them. I had the on-line map printed off but frankly, I I had a difficult time reading the tiny little print and scribbles. Someone had written a tiny little number 17 on the corner of the # 17 tee pad with sharpie. I wrote a 18 on the 18th pad. It would have made my navigation much easier and quicker if someone would write the numbers on all the pads. Will that sharpie last on the tee pads?

# 5 is a pretty cool hole. It's about 250' with the basket protected by one big tree stump with about 6 trees growing out of it. One is broke off leaving a gap about 18" wide. I stuck my tee shot through that small gap just nicking one of the sides and possibly preventing an ACE.

Cons:

No signage.

Navigation is difficult.

Open to the point of being boring.

Lack of challenge for experienced players.

$8 entry.

Park is closed Tuesday & Wednesday/

Other Thoughts:

The grass is nicely soft and squishy to walk on. At least is was in late March. It will probably be brown and scratchy later this summer.

I think better players will be underwhelmed here. Total rec players like myself, might fit this course better. And the more in-experienced, less controlled players might like these wide open spaces the most of all.

Great little technical course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 25, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Nice tee pads
- Brand new baskets
- Course was well taken care of
- Park was empty

Cons:

- The holes seemed really short to me given the amount of space there was on the front 9
- No tee signs
- No mandatory's in place to protect other tee pads/baskets

Other Thoughts:

This course was a pleasant surprise and ultimately it was worth the trip from Rancho Cucamonga. Dave did a great job designing this course but I found it a little cramped at times. The wooded back 9 was by far the highlight of my round and it was nice too see such well placed baskets and protection. The ground is completely flat throughout the 18 and my dad and I had the entire park to ourselves. I will definitely be back.
