Mound City course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 23, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Baskets catch good
Maintained for the most part
Some open holes for bombs
Some holes that fairways choke down very tight and quickly

Cons:

Hole 7s fairway can sometimes get overgrown
Hole 3 has a barbed wire fence to the left hard to get over the fence for a disc
Ball fields come into play a lot can't really play if there's a game going on
No teepads

Other Thoughts:

Would be very nice if had teepads
If it would be mowed more often It would be very nice course

Hone your short game 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 13, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course offers many holes that are birdieable and low scores should be easy to obtain here.
Rounds will play quickly(granted there aren't any other activities like baseball/softball taking place nearby).
The flow is logical.
This is a beginner friendly course and disc loss should be non existent.
The grounds where well maintained upon our visit.
Good place for midrange/fairway game improvement.
Good place to help improve you wind game.

Cons:

The walking path comes into play on several holes here, as it basically follows the walking path throughout the course. Please pay attention if there are walkers/joggers on the paths.
As of right now there aren't any tee markers so look for the blue flags that mark the tee areas.
Not many lines to be shaped here as the course is very wide open.
Some holes might not be playable during baseball/softball season due to games and spectators in these areas.
Hole 4's basket is between 2 ball fields so please be extra cautious here.

Other Thoughts:

This course uses what is available as best they could. This course is good for a quick game or it could be used as a warmup course for say Gunn Park down the road in Ft. Scott.
While not a championship level course this course will appeal to its target audience well and will hopefully get more players hooked on this great sport, #growthesport.
I'm going with the overall average of 2.5 simply for the fact that this course is a good learners course. It could really benefit with the planting of some trees to make for some challenging lines, primarily on holes 7 and 8.
Worth the stop if you are in the area and want to get loosened up or need a quick game.

Fun and challenging course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 1, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Course is easy to follow. Start at hole one and pretty much just follow the walking trail.

Course is pretty fun but also challenging due to its not real wide on a lot of holes, so if you don't throw fairly straight and accurate you will end up out of bounds

Holes are decent length for the most part, but the layout is nice, you can play 18 in a little over an hour if your playing/walking at a decent pace

Course will be steadily improving as local disc golf club and the city are looking to poor concrete pads and there has been trees planted that will not only make the course tougher in the future but also improve the looks of the course as well

Cons:

On a few holes it is really easy to end up out of bounds, either in the ball field, the pasture on the west side, or across the street in the tall grass on the east side

Watch out for dog poo as people tend to walk their dogs on the trail.

Also at times some of the holes have standing water near the pin or tee box.

Other Thoughts:

It's a fun course, it's far from elite but its definitely worth stopping a playing if your close to Mound City

It's new! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 20, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

It's great for a quick game when ever you need to get your fix. The baskets are new and it's an easy walking course.

Cons:

You may have to put from the outfield. Be careful when teeing off that there is no one on the walking trail.

Other Thoughts:

For the amount of space that was available its a decent 9 hole short course.
