Pros:

(1.946 Rating) A short and light to moderately wooded course with great maintenance.
- FUN FACTOR - This course is all about southern comfort. The average rec player should be able to birdie all these holes and average below par. The odds of losing a disc is near impossible. Searching in the overgrowth is limited and is basically only along the left on hole (3). Although only months old as of this review, I would not be surprised if a few regulars have already popped off multiple aces. This course is going to be oodles of fun for casual players.
- BEGINNER FRIENDLY - This is an ideal beginners course and considering that there are no nearby courses, this place is likely going to be the sports introduction to many players. In addition, during my visit there were even shorter flags marked, likely for junior players.
- SIGNAGE AND NAVIGATION - I was impressed by the stained and engraved wood tee signs. Although the pretty wood signs only have a distance and hole number, there's a second sign below it with an artistic description of the line. The navigation is good too. Each basket has a plastic arrow snapped onto the bottom of the cage. I had no problem slipping between holes on this course.
- QUICK PLAY - The easy navigation can make rounds fly out here. I started my round past sunset and still finished with enough twilight. It took me only 18 minutes to run this round and take pictures.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - This little parcel is super well maintained. Add to this lots of mature trees and some slight rolling elevation. I rarely rate sites this small above average in beauty, but imo this one just meets the requirements to meet the distinction.
- CHAINS - Pretty new white Veteran baskets

Cons:

A well-done novice level course that lacks appeal to higher skilled players.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE - I started my round with four straight birdies and feel confident that I could card 9 down out here eventually. The lack of shot complexity here just doesn't fit well for my Intermediate skill level set. I grabbed putters and mids for my tee shots far too many times and I don't throw that far. In addition, although several holes are played through the woods, the lines are generally wide and/or of a shorter length.
- MULTI USE HAZARDS - The site available to use is pretty small, only about 6 acres. Thus like many limited size courses, things in the park space seem to merge together a bit. There is a shelter sort-of in play on (1). A bad player could probably shank one off a building with a horrible throw on (2). Holes (8) and (9) have a parking lot in play.
- HOLE VARIETY - As alluded to in my challenge con, the gameplay here is rather simple. The longest hole is not much more than 300 feet long. Elevation change is noticeable on a couple holes, but I'd still label this as a mostly flat site. A couple holes have some modest basket defense, such as hole (5) with it's appealing pocket green. All par 3s and no water elements.
- AMENITIES AND EXTRAS - Nice chains and signage as noted in the pros. The tees on the other hand were just natural tees for my visit without much leveling. I did appreciate that they were well marked with small flags and I predict that this course will have concrete tees in a couple years. Very few extras. Only one chance to put a bag down or sit, which is on hole (2). No alt basket placements, extra tees or practice basket.

Other Thoughts:

Considering the small site and simple terrain, this is a terrific course and I applaud those who were involved to make it a reality. Normally in my travels, sites like this will earn a 1.5 rating at best on my ledger. So for NorthRidge to make it to a solid 2.0 says a lot. Although this is not a destination course, I have a feeling that this one will attract play from those within a thirty-minute range. There really isn't much out this way with the closest course in Montgomery being a half hour away. For those traveling along I65, this one is a good 15-minute detour from the exit. Probably not the best option to stretch the legs along the route
