The best of ADKS and DG 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 22, 2021 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

New Innova disc catchers with yellow bands.
Serene and peaceful environment
Fair throwing lanes. And clearing more.
Whites tees fair distance
Black is challenging
I enjoyed the hilly exercise on the ski resort

Cons:

Tee boxes were natural
Careful on #7 tee box. Tiny run up given on a boulder.

Other Thoughts:

My favorite. They should have tournaments here.

Oak Mountain July31, 2017 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 31, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Natural layout
- Beautiful woods and mountain scenery
- White and black tees for experienced and advanced players
- Challenging hole layouts. Great use of natural landscape features (hills, valleys, large boulders)
- Fairly well marked for only being a 2 year old course
- Great workout with short hikes between baskets and tees
- Authentic Adirondack trails feel
- Very nice new baskets
- Fair par designations
- Great online course map
- Well cleared for being carved out through somewhat densely wooded terrain

Cons:

- Needs to be played more to establish more obvious paths between holes
- Would be very challenging for beginning or out of shape players
- Would have been difficult to find a few of the tees without the online course map
- Some of the next tee markers were faded and waterlogged
- Errant throws off the fairway can be very difficult to recover from due to dense tree growth and foliage
- Bugs in lower wetter areas

Other Thoughts:

This course was a pleasure to play while on vacation in the Central Adirondacks! We had tons of fun working out the best approach to challenging holes. The scenery was beautiful, and playing the course felt as much like a great hike as it did a great disc golf outing. Bugs were typical for a forest hike so simply bring good bug spray and you won't be too bothered. Course managers have done a terrific job laying out and maintaining this course, and have made good use of existing trails and natural terrain to create interesting and challenging holes. We are intermediate players, and between the three of us we did not lose a single disc. The course could use more next tee markers and permanent intermediate arrows to show the way to next tees. Tee boxes need more work to make them flatter and to allow for a little more run up. Leveled, packed gravel contained in railroad ties would be awesome and would still maintain an attractive natural look. More permanent tee signs on planted 4x4s would also be a great improvement. Thank you for all the hard work that has gone into creating and maintaining a thoroughly enjoyable and worthy Adirondack disc golf course. We can't wait to play another round!

New Course, check it out! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 17, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

-challenging course for advanced disc golfers
-beautiful scenery and the remote location allows for peaceful play
-lots of long holes and impressive layouts
-you will get a workout while playing

Cons:

-must be in good physical condition to hike this course, it is literally on a ski mountain
-the back 9 is not very well kept, front 9 is pretty good, the course is new so it does not have many regular visitors yet to wear it down
-location, it is in the middle of nowhere, unless you are one of the 300 people that live in the local town
-very easy to lose discs if you are not careful

Other Thoughts:

-It is an up-and-coming course with lots of potential if it continues to be cleaned up and worked on
-I recommend it to any experienced disc golfer who is up for a challenge both in the hike and the difficulty of the course!
-It is vastly different from the courses I play at home in Ohio, but I was impressed with the creativity to put a course on such steep terrain.
