Pros:
-Innova Discatcher baskets (look to be re-used from the old South Elgin course, some chain assembly is rusted)
-Tee Signs & course map makes for easy navigation
-Nice setting along the Fox River
Cons:
-Extremely poor/dangerous design
-Does not utilize the best features of the park
-No tee pads
Other Thoughts:
A portion of the course is in a really nice setting along the Fox River. I work very close to here and was pleased to hear about there being a course along the Fox again.
I drove down a road where baskets #4 & #8 are next to, and saw a few more baskets in the periphery. Looked congested in design before I even got to the parking lot.
Hole 2 is a tight fairway with pond on the right and fences/yards/homes on the left. Very easy for a disc to end up in a yard if not worse.
Hole 3's tee is about 10 feet behind hole 2's basket. Your ideal tee shot on 3 will go about 15 feet right of 9's basket. Just an extremely dangerous area right here.
Hole 4's basket and Hole 9's tee are within about 20 feet of each other. This also applies to hole 5's basket and hole 8's tee.
The course could use a redesign to say the least. I plan to contact the park district to see if they would be willing to listen to a pitch for a few holes to be moved for safety & flow purposes. In its current state, any more than a few players on the course at a time could be a real hazard.
