Sweet gem in the mountains 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 27, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Sweet lines all over the place while traversing a local ski hill. Seriously, this is now one of my favorite mountain courses. I play Pro Masters at 49 years old I have a ton of experience -well over 100 course in at least 20 states- & I expected from the numerous short holes to come in at around -13. Well, I gave myself a chance with 16 birdie looks but some light wind carried a few putts just off chains for a 46 or -8. Crazy different lines off of every tee box; I was blown away at the variety. Hole #2 is one of my favorite tee shots in the whole state; It's a tight hyzer line say felonesque, or a sweet up n over anny putter shot around a beautiful tree. I almost emptied my bag from the tee box. My high anhyzer putter over annyed a bit & came up short but I cashed a my second uphill jump putt in a row to start off -2. I could throw that hole for a whole day over and over again. There are so many other unique tee shots that I will make the trip back again this summer, hopefully with a crew. I'm gunning for -13 next time again and I think since I know the course a bit now, if I throw nearly perfect (for me) I could get it. Disc golf does not need to be a bomb fest to be fun. This is REAL mountain disc golf where you need to have control of a full bag of discs and shots to score well. I am not proficient at forehand but was forced to take 2 forehand tee shots & luckily bagged 1 bird out of the two. Big arms have no advantage here, but if you can move and flip and turn discs putters, middies & drivers into heads winds and deal with tailwinds, and you can throw a smooth shot and hit your line, then this is as fun as it gets in the mountains anywhere. Stunning views.

Cons:

Tee boxes need more sponsors. Not bad at $300 lifetime sponsorship. Some dirt tee pads were pretty rough and some were uphill which I hate but respect as I am not very smooth throwing hard moving uphill on the box. A couple lines seem unfinished and need a few branches cleared for maximum playability. One of the holes on the back nine was such a crazy steep drop-off left. say a 240' shot but down 90' in elevation and dang- what a tee shot, but the walk down the scree field of rocks was pretty insane and I had to scoot in a few spots out of fear of taking a nice tumble down the mountain.

Other Thoughts:

Worth the drive from wherever.

Fun & Challenging w/ Spectacular Views 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 18, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Technically challenging. Lots of Trees
Elevation changes. Cool up and down holes.
Unbelievable views of the Lake Fork valley and Lake City.

Cons:

Rocky soil beats up discs.
Layout on a couple holes a little questionable; ie. a little hiking, but pretty well marked.

Other Thoughts:

Probably plays a little short for experienced players.
If you are short on time the 'original 9' is the cream of the course: 1,2,8,9,10,11,13,17,18
