Decent little course for a small town drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 14, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Course seems to be pretty new. Innova DisCatchers are in good shape. The park where the course is also has some shelters, a playground, and is right next to the swimming pool, so there are things to do for families.

There are some different lines to throw, with some variety in distances as well. Shortest hole is 140' and longest is 439'. There are some righty backhand, righty forehand, turnovers, and some gaps to hit. There aren't a lot of trees in the park, but course uses them pretty decently.

Cons:

At the moment, they do not have tee pads designated or tee signs in. When I played, I followed the map using UDisc, and according to the UDisc map, a lot of the tee locations are in the circle of the previous hole, or directly next to the basket. Obviously a safety concern when multiple people are playing at the same time. If the course is going to be getting tee signs and designating tee pad locations, they may want revisit where the tee locations are currently planned.

Other Thoughts:

Other than the tee location issue, there aren't a lot of glaring problems. If they solve the tee location issue, this is a solid 9-hole course that has holes for beginners, intermediate players, and advanced players. The course uses the natural features of the park (trees and the creek running through the park) to add some variety.

Since the course is in a pretty small town (Shickley is around 350 people) it may not get played very much and may not see improvements that could help it be really good.

If you're driving by and want to get a quick round in, it would be worth playing. It's not a destination course, but can become better with some tee signs and tee pads (of some kind). I'm giving it a 2.5 rating, but if there were signs or tee pads, I would give it a 3.0 rating.
