This course is in a municipal park in Opelousas, Louisiana, a small town on I-49 about 20 minutes north of Lafayette. There is camping on the course and the course itself winds around park buildings, roads and ball fields. It has 9 holes and yellow Latitude 64 Pro baskets on 8 of them. Hole 6's basket was being re-installed after being damaged while I was there so it should be back to a full nine by the time of this writing.

It is a short, 9-hole course with the longest hole being somewhere in the mid-300s. The park has significant elevation, no apparent drainage issues (usually a concern in this part of the world) and is well maintained. Most of the playing area is manicured lawn.

When I initially drove through the park, I only saw a few baskets and was a little worried. But this was undeserved as the course is laid out nicely with some good if modestly repetitive challenge. There are enough trees and small ball fields in the park to create a little challenge on most holes although a couple of the holes are wide open and short.

This is a fun course for a quick round with a mid and a putter, or for you longer throwers, just a putter. The course is easy to get to off I-49 if you are passing through town. It is just about perfect for a small town's first course with the exception of the tee boxes addressed in the next section. There is a course map near the first tee and another after Hole 6. The tee signs, though simple, are sufficient to help you locate the tee box and point you in the general direction of the basket.

Tee boxes. The tee boxes are approximately 3 feet wide and 6 feet long. With such a manicured, lawn like playing surface everywhere, they are really superfluous. They are good for a standstill throw, but unneeded for that style. They are to small for any run up and serve only as a landing area. Still, they didn't get in the way of the round because most holes are well under 300 feet.

The distances on the signs are wildly inaccurate is some cases. For example, Hole 7 is labeled as 265 feet when it is barely 180 feet.

The signs are adequate but the Hole 7 tee box can be difficult to find.

The course will be unplayable during baseball/teeball/softball games due to some basket locations utilizing bleachers and ball field fences as nearby obstacles.

Bring mosquito repellant if you are going to play this course. It's in South Louisiana and you have been warned.

Overall, this ended up being a fun, beginner style, 9-hole course. It's not super challenging, but if you enjoy chasing birdies or one disc rounds, you will enjoy this course.
