Updated Gem of Jersey 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 25, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good variety of shots required, some open, some fairly tight with slight elevation changes. Great novice course from white tees but will also challenge seasoned golfers from the yellow as well. Scenic views, peaceful setting.

Cons:

Bathrooms are always locked
A running water faucet would be nice.

Other Thoughts:

Update 7/2011 - New tee posts on all white tees are very visible, tee areas are being upgraded slowly. Course map will soon be updated as hole #1 on map has been deleted. New hole #1 is hole #2 on current map,

Hole 1 is old 2
Hole 2 is old 3
Hole 3 is old 4
Hole 4 is old 5
Hole 5 is old 6
Hole 6 is old 7
Hole 7 is old 8 which has been lengthened
Hole 8 is old 10 (old 9 is deleted)
Hole 9 is old 11
Hole 10 is old 12
Hole 11 is new, follow path to right of previous basket
Hole 12 is old 13
Hole 13 is old 14
Hole 14 is old 15 with new pin location (straight and up hillside with new steps)
Hole 15 is old 16
Hole 16 is old 17
Hole 17 is new, follow road to left, righty hyzer shot to pin in field behind grouping of trees

Jem in the rough 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Ok guys, you thought South Jersey was dead.....think again. South Vineland Disc Golf Course has everthing you want and more. Water, elevation, long, short, open, tight, left, right, you ask for it and this course delivers. Multiple tees compliment this exceptionally thought out course. Come see for yourself.

Cons:

Tee signs are not complete. There were no maps available, so if you don,t see any when you arrive, all you have to do is ask someone.

Exceptional Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 20, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

Challenging yet fair course. The pin positions maximize the potential of the land. Superb design and great use of elevation change.

Cons:

Grass tee pads. #14 a little unrealistic (extreme dogleg left from the back tees) but still enjoyable. Signage is reliable for the most part, though I got lost looking for #14 and never found the teepad for #18 (though I did find the basket)

Other Thoughts:

I traveled from my home in Georgia to visit my parents in New Jersey. Unfortunately, the states does not offer many disc golf coursesm, especially in the part my parents lived. I discovered that Vineland had two courses. I made the 25 minute drive to Landis Park first. It was straightforward and not very exciting. I almost decided not to proceed to South Vineland Park due to the chilly weather, but decided I might as well play since I was in the neighborhood. It was the best decision of my vacation thus far. South Vineland Park is one of my two favorite courses (the other is Sandy Creek Park in Athens, GA). The grin on my face grew larger after each hole. It is truly an exceptional course.
