Difficult but fun 2+ years drive by

Pros:

-Great course that is maintained by the ski hill.
-Nice tee pads with block laid out.
-Great views and workout.
-Nice Maintained Baskets

Cons:

-Some of the signage was hidden from vegetation growth or fallen so spent some time wandering looking for next tee
-11 holes play up the ski hill with a very steep incline.
-If you throw into the rough the tree lines between ski hills are thick with gullies and overgrowth.
-Lost a couple of discs.

Other Thoughts:

-Can't stress enough to be prepared to hike up a ski hill.
-Pay to play $6

A Superior Experience 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 12, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Paver tee pads that are big and level
+Spectacular views of Duluth and Lake Superior
+Alpine course without the thin air of high altitude
+Steep ski slopes provide an excellent workout and fun downhill bombs on a few holes
+Baskets in great condition
+Bar and restrooms on site (open on weekends & maybe more times)

Cons:

-Rough can eat discs, it's wise to pack a couple discs you can afford to lose to throw on downhill bomber holes and other holes too
-Distances on signs are almost all off. Most holes are a bit longer than the posted distance
-Navigation is difficult without the map, make sure to bring one along
-A couple short woods holes are poke & hope

Other Thoughts:

Spirit Mountain is a great experience overall and definitely worth playing. As far as the golf goes, it's not overwhelming or super challenging, but it will keep you interested. It's definitely fun and gives a pretty good alpine-style experience, but at around 2,000 feet or less the air isn't thin and so you won't gasp for air and your discs will still turn over when thrown on an anhyzer. The view from the middle holes of Lake Superior and Duluth is superb and probably worth the $6 green fee. The grass isn't cut too too often so it can take extra minutes to find discs sometimes, and the rough on several holes is thick enough to make discs vanish. Restrooms at the Chalet when it's open and a bar too.
