Big arm Still Needed 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 9, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Rubber Tee Pads
-Excellent Signage
-Mixture of tight fairways / open holes, flat / elevation, long / short
-Good flow, good map
-Big arms will love 10-17
-Some trees in play

Cons:

-Lots of elevation to work on #10-16
-#12, #13, #14 play along the edge of a golf driving range
-Walking paths in play on #2, #3 and #18
-Marshy area in play on #13 and #15
-Could still use some benches, especially on back 9

Other Thoughts:

SWCC plays on the campus of Southwestern Iowa Community College in Creston, IA. Re-designed in 2021, the course plays as a more technical front 9 and mostly wide open back 9, The front works around buildings and ball fields with a nice tunnel shot on #9 (including a mando, see the pic). The back works on an open and hilly section of campus located right next to a golf driving range. Holes 12 - 14 work along the range. While #12's basket is out at 300 yards from range's tees, #13 and #14 work closer and could have an errant shot roll up to you (I saw several range balls nearby.) The old layout worked more on the plateau with rather mundane back and forth. The new layout works more within the hilly section and while you work along the marshy area, you no longer have to carry it. The back 9 will give you a workout with the hills and the length. These were some nice improvements and I would play the course again.
