fun way to practice short game 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 10, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

-great location
-good signage
-well kept
-concrete pads
-islands are different shaped
-great use of very small amount of land
-creative idea for course
-not a typical course

Cons:

-not a typical course
-trucks can be a hazard
-other than the fact you are throwing to island, it is not technical
-very short

Other Thoughts:

I think this is an excellent place to practice your short game. Lets face it most of the time picking a hole on a course or going in a yard/field and working on approach/up shots can be a little boring. I love what they did here with the space they had. You can play 9 on your own throwing 2 discs in 20 minutes!!

DG in a Hurricane! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 26, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Possibly the best course bagging opportunity anywhere! Located right off the I-64 exit in Teays Valley, behind the TA Travel Center truck stop. If you are traveling with the family, you can probably send them inside for a restroom and snack break and play this 9 hole course before they are done!!
Great new DISCatchers, tee signs and small concrete tee pads at every hole.
Nice mulch landscaping around every basket.
All short holes 180' or less, straight level shots (except for #3) probably can even play at night.
Good chance to work on your approaches or long putts, or for the newbies and kids to practice on.

Cons:

Can be tricky to find the first tee, depending on the # of trucks in the lot. Face the building look right and head to the grass behind the lot.
Some trash on the course, but just due to the large amount of vehicle traffic nearby.

Other Thoughts:

Thanks to the owners of the TA for putting this nice course in. A different kind of exercise for those OTR drivers. In addition to the landscaping, they even put in a large TA sign, that holds the 9th basket!
It looks like the local club even has a Birdie Bash scheduled here for this summer.
WV is criss-crossed by a few interstates, so if you find yourself driving through and want to bag a WV course, this is the quickest way to do it. And, you can even say you played DG in a Hurricane!

Pros:

Easy to get to, it's directly off the interstate. An excellent course to practice on your upshots and putting. The holes are not long, which is great for an amateur like me. The course is set-up so that it can be played different ways to increase the difficulty level for more experienced players or just for more of a challenge if you want. It is a well kept, nicely laid out course. It utilizes all of the small area that it is built on.

Cons:

The traffic can be distracting but that is for only the first hole or so. There's only 9 holes.

Other Thoughts:

They did a good job of using space they had to work with. They have tournaments and competitions with giveaways. It's a new course but is really gaining popularity.

A Nifty Little Practice Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 23, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

If, like me, you need some work on your approach game then this is a good place to visit. The longest hole is about 180 feet. Hole #9 is a cool target. For added challenge, you can consider each hole and island shot, which means anything off the landscaped areas is OB.

Cons:

You'll be working around a lot of trucks (and drivers who aren't going to be too happy if you hit their rig). There isn't much variety - mostly straight shots in the 140-180' range.

Other Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this course, even though one throw got away from me and nearly ended up in the back of a dump truck. I look forward to going back.
