Taos Could Do Better 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 21, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Truly awesome mountain views.
Not a lot of people playing, I had the course to myself.

Cons:

You will need a sherpa guide to help you navigate this course. Despite trying both the 9 and 18 hole layouts on UDisc I could not find my way past the first two holes. You can see the entire course from the knoll so it should not have been hard. Lots of glass and trash on the ground. If you have a low clearance vehicle it WILL drag on the curb you have to jump to get to the parking area.

Other Thoughts:

It is obvious some folks have tried to improve on this course from the new 2018 layout. But there REALLY needs to be new signage. Better yet, it would be great if moved to a park somewhere. The City of Taos can afford to use some of those tourist dollars to give parks and rec the funds needed for a new course. If you need anyone to go to the parks and rec board meeting to help pitch a new course, contact me. I live in Santa Fe.

The Pits in the Paradise 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 18, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Paradise views of Taos Mountain.
-You could find enough baskets to practice on.

Cons:

-Unpleasant landscape to walk around:
-Glass, barbed wire, debris, trash, old tires
-Can be super slick for days after rain or snow.
-Tees mostly abandoned/ hard to find.
-More of a dirt bike bowl than a course for now.
-Need to jump a curb to park safely.

Other Thoughts:

COURSE UPDATE FOR EARLY 2021: Sadly I would have to assess the current course condition as 'abandoned'. Several baskets have been stolen. A new course has been planned so stay tuned.

The Roc Pit is on the south side of Taos and can be reached either as directed via Chamisa off Highway 68/ Paseo del Pueblo Sur, or by going all the way south from downtown on Salazar to a newly paved area with the course on the right. You can jump the curb or park barely off the road.

Not the pits 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 5, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course makes good use of the terrain changes to keep each basket interesting. Some elevated baskets on tires, some swinging baskets. some pits.

Cons:

No shade, no water. you have to hop a curb to park.

Other Thoughts:

placements of signs make the course fairly easy to follow. Played in October in the rain and was still hot. The sage brush stops discs. Not many skip or roll shots available.
