Pros:

This course has it all: long, medium, short, open, wooded, lots of elevation changes, hyzer, anhyzer, strategically placed OB, extreme up and downhill shots, mandos, sandtraps and some true pro par 4 holes. It will really test all aspects of your game.

The course is split roughly half and half between open and wooded holes. I really like that you find holes of all length in both the open field and the woods, meaning the long holes are not just in the open areas and the shorter holes are not confined to the woods. I love the variety and it really helps make the course great.

The elevation changes are found on nearly every hole.

Just because half the course is open, don't think they're all holes you can rip a drive and not worry about accuracy. Trees, mandos, OB and sandtraps are used effectively to punish shots that lack control.

Map and scorecard are right next to the counter when you sign in at the office. Tees are nice and long with signs displaying the rec and pro par as well as the distance.

Cons:

It is a pay to play course, but $5 to play a course of this caliber seems like a deal to me, plus you can play as many rounds as you want while you're here. Season passes are available and are good for 1 year from the date of purchase.

A couple of the tee pads aren't aligned quite properly with the fairway (12 and 15 come to mind) but as long as you're aware of this it shouldn't be much of a problem.

The course is normally closed on Monday's and Tuesday's, but it's possible to play those days if you call ahead to make sure someone's there.

The course should use some benches and trash cans.

Other Thoughts:

While CV is still the hardest course in the greater Louisville area, the Fun Farm is easily my favorite course around here. Definitely worth going out of your way to play.

Discs, snacks and drinks available in the office where you sign in and pay. This course is long, very hilly and there is little shade in the front 9; I suggest bringing a drink!

***NOTE ABOUT THE EXTREME HOLES, #13 & 14***
If you want to walk up and down the massive hill to play these holes, then go for it. I think these two holes are unique and a lot of fun. If you'd prefer not to traverse the hill or if it's muddy because it's rained recently, then these two holes are easily skipped. 15's pad is 75ft left of hole 12's pin, just look at the map you got from the office. To me, this is the best of both worlds because the choice is yours. If you don't like the choice you made, please don't take it out on the course when you review it!

Fun on the Farm. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 26, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course will challenge you with about every kind of shot you could dream of. The front nine are spread over two fields making excellent use of elevation changes, mandos, and tree lines. The wooded holes include some of the most wonderful trecherous woods shots I have ever played. There are tremendous altitude changes (hense waiver) with challenging narrow fairways. Great extreme terrain changes. Nice long tee pads. Very well maintained fairways, lots of creeks and gullies to roll down into. Well marked holes with a few directional signs where needed. Fantastic challenges even on the open field holes. I love this course.

A ton of woods clean up was done today. The ice storm and general fairway cleaning wer done. With plans for more to come. But many of the wooded holes are looking pristine now.

Cons:

On one of the wooded holes there is a drastic elevation change. Getting down the hill to the creek bed is really a bit dangerous. There needs to be a rope at least The last 10-15 feet are a mudslide.

Other Thoughts:

Probably could be made into 27 with out much trouble with all the extra land out there.

It's worth playing 2+ years drive by

Pros:

The course is well maintained. Good teepads and good signage. One neat feature that I wish more courses would use is a "pro par" and "rec par" listed on each sign. I think the idea of having an easier par for new players could help encourage people who are just getting into the game. I tried to count the difference in strokes between the Fun Farm's two sets of pars...it gets a bit muddled late when you have multiple pins to choose from, but it's on the order of 15 strokes easier if you played the rec par.

There's a variety of open and wooded holes, which is nice, as well as elevation change. There are really some unique holes that are unlike anything else I've played in this area.

Cons:

Some of the open holes are a bit too short and a bit too wide open. I don't know what could be done, as the plot of land is pretty much used as best it can be...but there are some holes that could use a few more obstacles to create some challenge.

Additionally, there are some really steep hills back in the wooded part that could potentially be hazardous if the ground was wet/muddy.

Other Thoughts:

I live in Louisville, and this course is worth the drive and $5. I'll probably play it at least once a year.

not worth paying for 2+ years drive by

Pros:

secluded location

Cons:

Not worth paying for. I had to wait at least 20 minutes just to sign a silly waiver. The entire staff is only concerned with paint ball players.

Other Thoughts:

If you're from Louisville, save gas, time, and money. Vettner and Iroquois park are much better courses.

Pros:

Awesome course. Lots of amazingly fun holes. Whether short or long they each have there own fun little personality. Perfect mix of wooded and open, and excellent use of nature/terrain. Beautiful scenery as well.

Cons:

Cost $5 to play, but it's not bad. Out in the middle of not much of anywhere; it really is pretty much a farm. I wish that the holes were open, then wooded, then open, then wooded, but that's just being picky. It's an awesome course.

Other Thoughts:

Nice little area to rest afterwards: free spring water, free air hockey, free foosball (however you spell that), and you can buy Innova discs there ($8 for DX, 14 for Champion, 16 for Star, and a dollar more if you want a custom Fun Farm stamped one). Nice little place.

Pros:

The Fun Farm is one of my favorite disc golf courses. The front nine is made up of mostly open holes varying from left to right, right to left, up to down, down to up, long and open, and short and risky. The long holes are mostly open with a few risks such as O.B.s and mandos. The short holes are technical with obsticles such as O.B. roads, fences, and sand traps.

The back nine escorts you into the woods where you are challenged to stay on the fairway while navigating tight cooradoors and steep hills. There is only one flat and level hole on the course. There are constaint elevation changes on every hole.

The finishing holes bring you back into the open field with some DRASTIC elevation changes and truely amazing golf shots.

The course is beautifully set on private property and is usually fairly empty of players.

Cons:

I can't think of ANYTHING negative to say about this course. It is pay to play but it's only $5 per person and that will hardly break the bank.

Other Thoughts:

This beautiful course will quickly become one of your favorites.

Awesome Course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 11, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

This is a very very fun course. It's got everything: tons of elevation, wooded holes, open holes, long, short, hyzer, anhyzer. Located way out in the country so there is never a crowded day. Also onsite is paintball and other activities.

Cons:

The only thing that sucks is that you have to pay $5 to play, but it is well worth it. Also with it being so hilly, it can be kinda tough going up and down some of the steep slopes.

Other Thoughts:

The Fun Farm is another great addition to an already disc golf rich area.

Skip it and play Bufallo Trace in Palmyra instead... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 9, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

A good mix of Open holes and wooded holes, Severe Elevation changes, Multiple shot types on most holes. Some Sand traps, and OB's.

Cons:

Owner does not support disc golf. Only out to fill his pockets on a sport he doesn't care about. Pay to play, but when work needs to be done he asks for voulunteers. Also charges players entry fees for tournaments.

Other Thoughts:

Don't waste your time on this course. It isnt fun to play!
