Tee Sign 6 was missing

Other Thoughts:

I think Chained Evil has done a good job of reviewing the course and I'm not looking to duplicate his review. It is a fun course for my skill level because it offers me the chance to work on some shots and score well.

A nice quiet campus course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 18, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

There is a good mix of short, moderate, and longer holes. The course uses the trees well to shape lines. There are some dog leg left and right shots here too.
Some holes will make you want to run the chains.
Rounds should play quickly here, and this is a good beginners course or a place where a more advanced player might want to work on their midrange game.
The grounds were well maintained and the signage and baskets were good too.
Hole observations:
1-Straight shot, basket semi protected
2-Tree lined shot
3-Low ceiling shot
4-Similar to 3 but a tad shorter
5-Has moderate length and trees to shape lines
6-Trees on the left hand side of the fairway
7-Basket is to the left of a little shed
8-Shorter hole with heavy rough on the right hand side
9-Is a slightly uphill

Cons:

The baskets need to have numbers on them to help the first time user find their way around, more so on the first 5 holes than the last 4.
The first 5 holes play next to dorms and over some sidewalks. This shouldn't be a huge problem if you think before you throw.
No trash cans or benches, not a huge deal but might be a nice option.
The walk from 5's basket to 6's tee is rather lengthy, and slows the flow down, but is unavoidable to get to the other 4 holes.
There are no other amenities so prepare accordingly.

Other Thoughts:

This is a typical college campus course that would be best played after classes or on a weekend when the students weren't on their way to classes. Out of the two 9 hole courses in Newton this one gets the nod for me. I like a course with trees that make you think about shot selection. A fun play if you are in the area and want to get some throws in before you head out to the HAWK.
