Baggin In The Rain... At Night 2+ years

Pros:
(0.955 Rating) A Beginner friendly course with short holes and minimal obstacles.
- GRADE SCHOOL STUDENT FRIENDLY - Considering that this one is located on the property of both Upperman Middle and Upperman High School, it was probably intentionally structured to make this one playable to the average school student. There are no distances posted at the course, but I think the inputted GPS figures are close to accurate, being mostly between 100 and 200 feet. Athletic first timers should be able to chalk up pars and maybe even a birdie on the first go around. Very little chance to lose a disc and searching in overgrowth is a non-possibility.
- QUICK PLAY - Solos should be able to finish rounds in twenty minutes. I could give a time for a group of four, but Craig, Josh and Matt are not going to meet you here to play it.
- MAINTENANCE - The grass was mowed.
- NIGHT GOLF BAGGIN - I began my round 10 minutes before sunrise. Tall light poles lit up the grounds on several holes. Among the 521 courses I have played as of this review, this one would rank among my top 5 easiest to bag at night solo... as long as the lights are on.

Cons:
Not worth most players time.
- LACK OF APPEALING GAMEPLAY - I somewhat get why the course was made beginner friendly. It's on a school campus and it's likely used for gym class. However, the bar has been set so low, to the point that it likely won't hook any players. Every shot is 200 feet or less. I had to think about my line on only a couple holes. The gameplay excitement would be similar to watching moss grow in the Sahara.
- MISSED OPPORTUNITIES - There are heavy woods, a creek and a retention pond on campus. none of these elements were used.
- SAFETY HAZARDS/MULTI USE HAZARDS - Several school access roads are in play. Overall a minor issue as the course isn't open to the public during school hours.
- LAYOUT FLOW - There's a big flow gap between (4) and (5). Tee (5) is 750 feet west of basket (4).
- NAVIGATION AND SIGNAGE - Passable only because of the open layout. Tee (1) is 650 feet south of the main access road along the left side. All the tees had a conspicuous yellow painted wood post with a number. It was easy to spot them from over 100 feet away. The noted flow gap above between (4) and (5) will be tricky the first time. There is also a 300 foot gap between (7) and (8) which requires walking a little east of due South.
- AMENITIES AND EXTRAS - The baskets are DISCatcher sports and all nine were in good shape for my visit. This concludes the amenities and extras portion.
- TEES - Most incorporated an existing sidewalk or asphalt paving into the teeing spot, but they are at weird angles or have abbreviated lengths. I wouldn't even rank them at 25 percentile.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - I scored it in my bottom 10 %. The grounds were in fantastic shape, but the lack of trees and a plethora of buildings and roads in view really holds my score of it back. I did kind-of like the finishing hole with the focal point of the basket perfectly aligned with the front of the school.

Other Thoughts:
Well Baxter Tennessee finally has a course. Unfortunately, it's in a configuration that's not going to appeal to most regular players. The fact that this course rates as a 3.7 on Udisc should be eye opening on how useless those rankings are. It was actually at 4.0 before I played it, sporting two-word 5.0 reviews like "great course!" and "awesome course!" For those that live in town, this will likely feed the itch from time to time, but I have a feeling that most players in town will still be traveling over to nearby Cane Creek in Cookeville as that one is a far superior example. For those traveling on I40 between Knoxville and Nashville, this should only be considered if you are a bagger like me. It's quick and easily accessible from the highway as long as school is not in session.

Pros:
-This is a great place to take new players to introduce them to the sport.
-Holes are out in the open, and easily visible.
-There are concrete tee pads, though they are usually the nearest sidewalk slab, or parking lot space.
-This is a good place for experienced players to practice their mid-range game and putting.
