Volunteer Park DGC Is A Delightfully Clean And Simple Course! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is one of the cleanest little parks anywhere. The park is small and simple with a restroom, a large and very cool children's play area and a smallish grassy area which is where the little course sits. The course is wonderful in it's simplicity. Nine holes, the longest being just 177', no tee pads, just grass, the same smallish baskets that River Ridge has and great informative signs. Navigation is a breeze. It plays around in a counterclockwise directions. The # 6 hole plays up a very small hill. #s 8 & 9 both play down the smallest of hills. Most are simple, straight forward with almost no obstacles in the way. It's a ACE race waiting to happen.

What a great little course to bring someone for their first disc golf outing. No chance of losing a disc or hunting in some rough. This is a total non-threatening experience.

Cons:

Cons? Not really, as this is just about a perfect course for beginners and kids. Three holes tee off from the sidewalks while the rest just use the grass.
Some kind of pads would be welcomed.

A few more small obstacles wouldn't hurt.

A little more elevation would be nice.

The course is not designed for serious players.

Gees, i'm Picking the course to pieces when I think It's a excellent example of a perfect beginner pitch and putt.

Other Thoughts:

Volunteer Park is a little tricky to find. Google maps took me to the end of a one way street but I sensed the park was behind these houses and it is. It's an easy 15 minute round with nine ACE runs. That makes it an easy course to bag, as well. All these 125' to 175' holes are easy, non-threatening, possible ACEs, easy birdies. I think the course is great fun! Bring the kids, the wife, the dog and anyone else you can pack in.
