Pros:

--Prodigy baskets.
--Playground equipment if you're multitasking with the littles.

Cons:

--Almost every tee shot the same
--Gravel tees
--No parking lot
--Course split 6 holes east of access road (also Windrose), 3 holes west. If you're there with young kids, it could be an issue.

Other Thoughts:

This is a tidy little course which is simultaneously tucked away in a quiet neighborhood and very accessible to Interstate 35.

It's a good course for beginners, or teaching beginners. One of the reasons that this is the case is that they can potentially throw the same tee shot on the first 8 holes, each of which is between 130 and 175 feet long with hazard (tall grass, mostly) on the right. I played all of them RHFH, but if you're willing to skirt or throw over the hazard on the right, you could just as easily bend it the other way.

The 6th hole adds a 20-25 foot climb to the basket. You cross Windrose Curve (the access road) to play the last three holes. Number 8 is the shortest hole on the course at 133 feet, but tucks the basket blindly behind some vegetation on the right side.

Finally, there is #9, if you've been Jonesing for a RHBH or LHFH shot the entire round (which by now has taken you all of about 20 minutes). It's a water cross with tall grass and wetland also behind the basket. Only 138 long, and with about 30 feet of depth to your landing area, if you talked your shot into fading at all after the water carry, you're going to be fine. Thought I aced it but it snuck past the cage on the far side for a 12 foot birdie.

This was stop number one for me on a four course late November bagging day--almost certainly the last day with temps in the 40's for 2023. Personally, I found it to be an excellent place to get warmed up and throw right at the baskets. It was also the first course I scored under par, so that was fun.

There's nothing wrong with this course if you just want a quick and easy round.

Nothing to be done, little to be said 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 9, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Nice baskets-Easy navigation -Low traffic-Beginner/family friendly-Solid signage-Clean

Cons:

-Not a lot of shot or distance variety-Gravel pads just okay-Playground users could come into play on a busy day-Tee to next hole often within the circle of the previous target

Other Thoughts:

A 9 hole course in a very small neighborhood park that is wrapped by a drainage ditch/ponds. Course plays on the outside of a playground that occupies the center of the park. Last 2 holes play in a wooded trail area across the street. Nothing over 200 feet. With the space allotted in this residential area, not sure what else could be done. Instead of 7 short field holes you could have 3 or 4 longer field holes but the repetitive feel and lack of obstacles would remain. The last two holes provide a slight reprieve from the first part of the course but beginning players, who should be this course\'s target audience, might find the final hole overly difficult with water in front of and behind the basket. A fine course near the interstate to take a short break from a long drive. Good course to bring your kids, family or new players. Could be a fun location for a family event or birthday party, but not much here for even the semi serious player.

Windrose Park 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 5, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Very clean, well maintained park in a residential neighborhood.
+Nice new blue Prodigy baskets.
+Good for beginners
+Practice basket
+Navigation is dead simple, good course flow, you pretty much tee off 10-20 feet from the last basket.

Cons:

-Only street parking, which shouldn't be a problem as I can't see this park getting very busy.
-No tee signs
-Gravel tees can make footing a little loose
-Every hole is very short.
-The only obstacles on the first 6 holes are the cattails and woods on the right.
-Rough on hole 7 is very tall and very close to the basket.

Other Thoughts:

This isn't a bad course given the space and land utilized.
I like that the course avoids the playground area.
Nice use of water and a landing area on hole 9. You shoot about 150' over a small pond and land on a srip maybe 20' wide. Behind the basket are unforgiving cattails and marshy ground.
This course definitely favors RHFH and LHBH, as the first 6 holes are rough and woods on the right and wide open on the left.
On hole 7, I lost a disc, if you find it, you can keep it, just text me first.
