Pros:

Aspen Acres is a brand new course built right on top of an existing ball golf course. With that you of course have a nicely manicured fairway and greens the entire time you play and little to no chance of losing a disc even with badly errant throws. Distance is the primary challenge as is most disc golf on ball golf courses but this one features rolling hills and awesome artwork all over the place. Speaking of art the baskets here are some of my favorite of all time. They were crafter from different pieces of metal including license plates, camera's, safety lights from a vehicle, you name it! There is a guitar theme to this place with a few baskets having guitars built on top of them out of metal. Others include skiers, bicycles, birds, etc. all built out of metal on top of the baskets. The baskets besides being beautiful works of art are also functional and catch well in my experience. I think when playing this course to mitigate the openness of it the ball golf rough, sand, and greens should be played as OB, makes for a more interesting round.

Cons:

As of now this course doesn't have tee signs or numbered baskets or any navigational tools to help you out along the way. When you check in at the red barn the owner Casey gives you an idea of where it starts and ends and flows but there is potential to play the holes in the wrong order or not know where each tee pad is from as you are using the existing ball golf tee area and there are many to choose from.

Like I said its a very open course and some love that, some hate that. Playing most things as OB like I said is a better way and should be implemented as the norm here.

Other Thoughts:

Casey and his family were very friendly and inviting making us feel welcome, can't thank them enough for the hospitality. I was also told that nine more holes are going in here on the back nine portion of the ball golf course that is much more wooded and will be a fun technical side as well. This is good little course for those of you out there that like long throws and a bit of an adventure.
