2019 Disccraft Ace Race

It's a Hawk? Bummer, was really hoping for an Eclipse or maybe even a reaper.

Anyone see the stamp for this month's Ace Race? I hope it's a throwback to the original stamp. I dig this style of digital, 80's video game, synthwave art:

I will snap one at lunch as we just completed an Ace Race this weekend. Kind of a slow disc with good glide, not as OS as I imagined it would be, some reliable fade at the end. Seemed to work best with some power on it to hold the line but led to some spit/splash outs on shortened holes.

The event you attended was a flop, or the decision to do throwback discs for their 40th anniversary?

The discs they chose for their throwback......... from what i've read here and and from veteran Discraft throwers, they could've chosen so much better ones.

I'm paid into an ace race this Saturday and i'm REALLY bummed i get to use a meathook driver for ace runs.

Would be nice to the see the XL make a comeback, surprised they let this one fall through the cracks since it was a distance record holder at one point and friendly to all skill levels.

ESP, yeah?

The Wildcat might hook pretty hard at slow speeds (otherwise it's a great disc, and was my primary driver for a year or two). Agree, they should have run the XL, in a swirly ESP maybe, since you can still find some ESP XLs online. Eclipses and Hawks are good choices though. Wouldnt call it a flop.

Looks domier than I remember but could be the lighting.

Not the lighting, it is quite domey.

Disc feels like ESP. I had a chance to fondle and throw one today. Thanks Floyd. The Eclipse is not and never was a meathook. Put a touch of snap on it and it is a true flyer with a fade. The local Ace Race this weekend was won with 5 aces and 13 metals on 48 holes of play.

Pretty solid description based on my experience. Was on Floyd's card all day, think he ended up with 3 aces and a lot of metals. :D

How short were your holes? Around here, 2 or 3 aces and maybe 3 or 4 metals usually wins.

I did not actually play. Just ran into a buddy at league who had a handful of the discs. Future Primitive played in the same event though. Maybe he can pipe in.

They did a 12 hole layout, we played it 4 times for a total of 48 holes. I believe the holes were from 80 ft up to 200 ft. If I recall correctly every hole had at least two baskets side by side, maybe three of them had 3 basket pyramids stacked up. Shorter holes with larger targets made for a lot of aces.

Also add in that mulligans were for sale which could be used once per hole. 6 mulligans = $5.00, 24 mull = $20, they were "a-hole" mulligans, meaning if you used it your first throw was invalid. Say you hit metal on 1st throw, had to decide if you wanted to wipe that out and go for the ace or sit on it and move on. In theory you could have done 96 throws on 48 holes if you bought 48 mulligans and used them on every hole.

My event was ran well, but ace running with a driver on super short holes was pretty stupid. I regret wasting my money on this fuggly mold
