elite-z feels like innova star plastic to me
elite-x is harder
elite pro is gummy like an innova 11x firebird

hopefully others agree with this ^^

I still have a few of those as well. From time to time they kick the Cyclone out of my bag, but I always end up back with the Cyclone. The Elite Pro XL's were really nice, they had a nice stability (not as stable as the current Z but more stable than the current X) and really good grip. They were durable as well. Just really nice discs. They are a tick faster than the Cyclone and a little harder for me to shape lines with, but they go far.

I have a newer Elite-X XL & it feels like Innova pro only with more grip & really isn't stiff at all.

I'm an XL fan & wondering how the ones you have pictured would compare to the one I posted.

How does the Elite Pro compare to the Elite-X they use today? Marshall St. has a black one I'm kinda interested in.

Hard to say. Elite Pro and Elite X are similar, but the Elite Pro's were more durable had a better grip to them.

Elite X seems harder maybe? Maybe slicker? Really, I have always said the Elite X feels more plasticy, which is a completely stupid thing to say because it's all plastic but it makes sense in my head. Really I think I mean it feels like cheaper plastic when compared to the Elite Pro.

Anyway, Elite X IMO is as close as you get to Elite Pro today, but it's not the same.

To summarize...IMO the Elite Pro's generally were a tick more stable, were more durable and had a better grip.

I do like threads where everybody posts pictures of disc, though. ;)

I might. I also have an old DX Panther I was going to PM you about. The thing still ticks me off. I was keeping score and at the end of the round I was adding up the card. I had the Panther under the card to make it easier to write on. So I passed around the card for everyone to check and initial and left the Panther underneath. This tool had a bad round so when he signed the card he slammed the pencil into it...and right through the flight plate of the Panther. So it has this pinhole in the flight plate about the size of a pencil lead. It's technically illegal now, but if you want it for casual rounds it still flies fine. I dug it out the other day and remembered you had been looking for Panthers. At least I think it was you. If it was somebody else just ignore me.

actually i agree with the 'plasticy' description. while the elite-z feels like an elastic disc that can move around, the elite-x just feels like a solid hunk of plastic. like a hotwheels car vs raquetball.

that said i've thrown all three and dont really have a preference, altho i dont throw elite-z much.

actually, i just grabbed a surge ESP, and it feels the most (grip and elasticity) like an elite pro. so there you go.

I was definitely looking for DX Panthers, but managed to snag a couple from some folks here, so I'm pretty well set. These XL's on the other hand, are something I'm very interested in.

I had not thought to compare the two, but you have a point. Neither Elite X or ESP is a match for Elite Pro, but you could consider it kinda in the middle of the two.

So what you're are saying is that an ESP XL would probably be very similar to the Elite Pro? I do have to admit that even if that's true, I like how the ones you 2 posted look a lot better.

glad you used a disc instead of letting him write on your back!

just talking about the grip and elasticity. i've never thrown an ESP XL so i cant compare them. we all know how much different plastic will make a disc have a completely different throw.

Right, I hear ya. I'm very interested in these for some reason. I've been a fan of XL's for quite some time now & the ones you guys posted look / sound like they'd be pretty sweet.

I should have checked my organizer before I opened my mouth. My wife sold a bunch of my discs on ebay without my knowledge a few years back, so sometimes I think I should have a bunch of discs that I don't. Evidently she sold some XL's because I've only got six left and two are the dreaded "collectors disc" 1st runs. I had a bunch more than that. I wonder how much she got for them? At any rate, I realistically have four and I think I'm going to sit tight on those.

I threw one in the lake at Albert Oakland this summer and thought about leaving it, but I waded in and got it. I'm glad I did. If I would have left it and then found out I only had a few left I would have been...upset.

Wow that is... shocking. If my wife did that part of me would be incredibly mad, but part of me would praise her ingenuity for actually coming up with some money. However, if that sale was accompanied by a new purse and shoes...

Not so much.

The XL is such a great disc... Whenever someone plays for the first time I give them a DX Cheetah to use. Once they have played 3+ times and get a little bit of form down, I give them the XL. I have an Elite X and Elite Z both from around 2001.

When they play for the 10th time, I tell them to buy a damn disc and stop trunk shopping in my car :p
