Yes, even Discraft had an okay day with AB in top 5 and Andrew Cookie Monster Marwede in top 10.looks like Discmania is doing ok. . .
Kristin had an Of day but today the hunt is on. .
im curious why you have topo map but dont put in elevation along the index linesAnalytical map of hole 4 at The Open showing the elevation profile for both tees. I make these maps to help viewers watching online understand the challenge. See more DGPT venues here:View attachment 335427

I have in the past but they tend to crowd out other numbers like the down range distance. on the elevation profile I found it more use label the amount of change so you don't have to do the math in your head.im curious why you have topo map but dont put in elevation along the index lines
ohh gotchaI have in the past but they tend to crowd out other numbers like the down range distance. on the elevation profile I found it more use label the amount of change so you don't have to do the math in your head.
I include the lines because they help emphasize the amount of change along the fairway. I probably should have mentioned that the interval is 1 foot and maybe I should also label the elevation at each tee to give reference.
Yeah, the sport of disc golf is simply not using the technology available. I could create these for every hole on tour (if the elevation data is available for that area) I have not checked the new venues for the rest of this year yet but almost all of 2023 locations have it.^I really like your work, Richard.
Especially the elevation profiles. The hole maps are excellent, but I don't think I've seen elevation change shown in anywhere close to that amount of detail.
I agree that many people either don't see them or don't understand them. Better maps for this sport relies on better map literacy. I showed some of these to a few pros at The Preserve last year and they really liked them and thought they would be useful to have during practice rounds.I think the evevation profiles are excellent! I've seen them a few times at courses, but yours are particularly good.
I doubt if most people know what the topo lines mean (plus many people probably don't even see them).
Is Open at Austin #11 really 1000 feet?I agree that many people either don't see them or don't understand them. Better maps for this sport relies on better map literacy. Maybe of elevation changes? Is Open at Austin #11 really 1000 feet?
Hey Steve, straight line from tee to pin is very close to that. I don't have an exact location of the pin to measure from but I can say that the slight left to right of the landing zones does not make it much longer. (the blue line is from Udisc and measures 988ft. I think the pin is placed a bit deeper into the woods)Is Open at Austin #11 really 1000 feet?
Elevation drop is roughly 35 feet with only a little undulation. The red line on the aerial image is where the profile is measured. The distance is greater than 1,000ft here because I plotted landing spots offset from the straight line tee to pin. (the blue line is from Udisc and measures 988ft. I think the pin is placed a bit deeper into the woods)Maybe of elevation changes?
