Speaking of thread...
Here's a plug for GStar. Warning: You may not agree with my personal opinions.
I have a couple GStar discs I throw regularly including the Thunderbird and Destroyer. I recognize that they tend to be a bit less overstable than Champ or Star counterparts, which is precisely the reason I use them...
Im throwing my vote in for a 165-169g Champ Mako3. Nice glide, and they go straight at low AND high power, giving you a mold with which you can learn to throw flat, and keep in your bag long term.
I use an Yeti Aviar with a two finger FH stacked grip, and I can place it pretty accurately either from the rough or the tee with range of about 150'.
For longer rollers I pull out a JL Champion Des Reading sig. Firebird, not as predictable as the Yeti, but has better range.
Champ Roc3 180g - Star Mako 180g - Z Buzzz 166g
The Roc3 is for wind or power shots that need fade. Mako for most open or straight shots. Buzzz for longer turnover shots.
I also use my Yeti Aviar and R-Pro Dart for short Mid-Range shots (up to 275').
There is definitely something uniquely perfect about the Destroyer for controllable distance. Most of the time on the course however, I'll throw my Krait instead since it's more controllable and easy to shape straighter lines with.
Understable putter: beat RPro Dart
Understable driver: GStar Eagle-L
I don't throw any extremely understable discs most of the time, since the E-L can cover most turnover shots I need, and I can anhyzer anything else.
