    Hey, AP.

A bit of Boundary Waters info. Canoe travel can be rigorous, especially a solo trip. Lake to lake portages, 10 yards to a mile. There are many outfitters in Ely who set up paddlers of all experience levels and can tune a trip to individual tastes. Casual, fishing, less frequented destinations, etc. You might get your local folk jones filled by spending time with a few of the outfitters. I suppose there might be the possibility ( with the right approach) of a local pointing you to a spot where you might park your van and camp, too.
It's pretty country. Paddling on a series of mirror calm lake with the world reflected, sigh. Expect weather, too, and the potential to be wind bound.

    Tri.
