private $5 short wooded technical 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 5, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Staff was typical Orcas, friendly and outdoorsy.
Innova DISCatcher baskets. Home made wooden hole signs were cute. All wooded and quite technical though no wonky holes where you are throwing into straight trees with just a matter of hope and luck.
Baskets were seemingly brand new.

Cons:

Pay $5 for a day pass which you get unlimited play. Dirt tee boxes. The elevated basket on hole 2 seems a bit unnecessary. I felt half of the holes had the baskets about a half foot to a foot higher up than usual. Course does not end where you started, it just keeps pushing further into the woods, so you have to walk the railroad tracks back alongside some campgrounds. You don't realise while you are playing how far you are walking until you have to walk the entire distance back without stopping.

Other Thoughts:

Check in and sign waiver, park at back of farm by hole 1. Course is pretty short; usually on the 150-250 ft range. Quite challenging, I think I finished 5 over par.

Pack some discs in your bag 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 12, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

- the course is challenging but fair; we didn't expect it to be as difficult as it is
- the layout is creative and interesting
- it features some fun protected putts, like elevated basket #2
- the forest is lovely
- it's a relatively quick round
- lots of potential for more holes

Cons:

- as the course is new, the rough is quite rough and there are many stinging nettles - make sure you wear long pants or know what nettles look like so you can avoid them
- only 2 or three discs needed to play
- there are only 9 holes
- there is a sign advertising the course on the road but it's hard to see

Other Thoughts:

We asked at the brewery if there was any disc golf on the island and were excited to be directed to this Mt. Baker Farm DGC. This little course is top notch and a great start to what hopefully ends up being a full 18; a lot of hard work and thought has clearly been put into it. It's accessible to all ages and abilities and a great addition to the Island's amenities.

Mount Baker Farm 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 21, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Awesome location in the woods, with a very cool old train station along the way. The owners are very helpful and responsive.

Cons:

The boundary lines are not always clear, and it can be a challenge to fish your frisbee out of some of the dense bushes and vines.

Other Thoughts:

The course is challenging! As a beginner, I might +1 for all of the holes next time. Some guidance to get back to the entrance would also be helpful.

Mount Baker Farm - Disc Golf Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 21, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Awesome location, a challenging course, fun play, and incredibly kind people.

Cons:

Boundary definitions are a little unclear and some of the dense brush makes for a challenging find for those occasional errant throws.

Other Thoughts:

The pars for the course are pretty challenging. Beginners may want to add +1 throw to each hole. A little sign to walk back on the railroad path as mentioned would be great. I'm very thankful for a great experience!

October 2018

New course. Very fun in the woods course! Technical and challenging in a beautiful forest and worth every basket. Must call ahead to gain entry and directions to hole 1. Another 9 holes on the open green are planned. I can't wait! It is a spectacular place on Orcas Island.

I played the course alone and threw twice every shot and took the best of the two for each throw. It was a good way to get a sense of the new course and enjoy the round. I was able to par the course in this manner, but with a lot of additional luck. At hole 8 and 9 signage is lacking, and from hole 9 you need to know that you have to walk the railroad tracks all the way back. It is a lovely walk.
