(1.660 Rating) A Novice level park style niner with some nice elevation change.
- FUN FACTOR - The new Argo course is clearly aimed at newer players. Six shots are listed at under 200 feet long. The ace potential will be much higher than normal for those that can chuck plus 200 feet. No water and the odds of losing a disc will be extremely low. Beginners thru Novice level players will love this care-free disc golf introduction.
- BASIC COURSE AMENTIES - Concrete tees were already poured for the first three holes and I surmise they will do at least a couple more . I liked the white bands of the Dynamic Patriot baskets and they seemed to catch well. There is also a course map showing the hole distances and a practice basket.
- ELEVATION - I wasn't expecting this much elevation change in a small park. Up shots, down shots, a ridge and side to side play. The slopes are generally gradual, so carts should work just fine out here. The course could really use some benches however.
- QUICK PLAY - I can't imagine any bagger coming in here and not being back in the car in under 30 minutes. It flows well except for the journey between basket (9) and tee (1), which is something like 400 feet apart. I took course photos and completed my solo round in 25 minutes.
- MAINTENANCE - Completely mowed for my visit. Only the fringes had overgrowth. I suspect that this course will rarely be in bad playing shape.
- NIGHT GOLF OPPORTUNITY - Perfect for night golf, if it's allowed.
- PARK AMENITIES - There's a nice pavilion with picnic tables and locked restrooms. Man did I need to go too.

It's still young in development and it's a small footprint.
- PARK SIZE & MULTI USE HAZARDS - Designed by PDGA state representative Ben Swan whom had a very site challenged parcel to work with here. The layout is tucked into not even 5 acres and there's other park amenities inside this. Houck himself couldn't have done much better.
- TIME WAITING - Seven of the nine holes have walking paths in play. I'm not sure how often there are walkers using these paths, but if they are, expect to wait often. This will be tough to fix unless there is more land in this park that I am not aware of.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE AND VARIETY - This is a Novice level course. As noted above, great for Beginners. For players at my skill level, Intermediate, it's a snoozer. I played terrible in business attire and shot 4 down. I personally threw my driver once, but big arms could get by with one or two discs. I did like hole (8) where I tomahawked one over the 40-foot tall trees and landed inside 20 feet. For a niner I'd say the variety is about average, but below average among all courses.
- YOUTH AND TEE SIGNAGE - Although the course was fully playable by my appearance, it appeared that they were still working on things. Only six of the nine tees were marked or had concrete pads installed. Tee signage was not installed yet, thus taking a photo of the course map will be crucial. I figure these two items are worth about an eighth of a point in my evaluation.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - I went with 30 percentile.

Argo is going to work fine as a neighborhood course. It's a quick easy-going track that will challenge newer players to get better. The course unfortunately has a very similar target audience to that of the nearby Humble Tree course, which is just 5 minutes down the road. Thus, I wonder how much play this course will actually get by the locals. I did like the open play at Argo better than the open play at Humble Tree. However, the woods at Humble Tree would be the reason I'd head over there instead of Argo. Argo really doesn't have a wooded element to it, which an element I enjoy. As is, I'm going with a strong 1.5 with an uptick to around a 1.75 once the signage and tees get finished. I could see myself upping the score over the 1.75 threshold if some benches perhaps got installed at a couple tees.
