+ Scenic little course in a Delta neighborhood that definitely sees locals often and exhibits a good use of the small area available and also seems to be well-maintained with a port-o-john on site near the parking lot, which has ample room

+ Navigation not difficult despite lack of signage, plays a loop, no crossing fairways, what elevation is present is used well

+ Decent baskets, natural tees have been upgraded to concrete tiles since last review

+ Some variety in distance present; some open shots but most have a little bit more of a challenge

- No map/signage/distances

- No benches/trash cans along course

- A little on the short side, but there wasn't a lot of room to work with

Tamarac is a great little course that I see as good for beginners/locals/baggers alike. Anyone looking for "championship caliber" might be underwhelmed but I've seen much worse 9 holers. It's also a great, quick warm-up before heading to Confluence Park.

It's on the short side, but it's apparent that a fair amount of thought has gone into the layout. While the first hole is a basic shot across a field, the rest of the holes offer a bit more challenge, heading through the park's foliage/trees. There's also a narrow creek/drainage that runs around 3 & 4 that can be difficult for retrieval and has certainly eaten some discs (I saw a couple guys spending a lot of time searching it). That hazard and the mando "eye-of-the-needle" shot on 8 (I think it was 8) add some dimension to the course. Despite the lack of signage navigation isn't difficult. The tee for 1 is just to the right of the parking lot, and the rest of the course is pretty fluid, though there can be some confusion as to which tee to shoot from around 6-8. That said, the baskets each have a nice large number on them and no hole is too long that you can't find which one you're going for.

All in all I left feeling that for what it is and what "They" had to work with, Tamarac is a nice fun course for a quick round, especially when paired with Confluence Park across town. I was itching to give it a 3, and with proper signage I'd definitely give it that bump.

Short course on a tiny piece of land, but surprisingly fun shots. If some new baskets got installed and some work got down to the tee pads this could easily be a 2.5

Fun course with a nice mix of shots. Hole 1 is a challenge to reach for birdie. Hole 2 is a cool tunnel shot. hole 3 has become more of an ace run with the creek removed from behind the pin. Hole 4 has had a tree fall in front of the pin, adding a very tight finish on your drive if you are going to have a chance at birdie. Hole 5 has a few different lines for another short putter downhill ace run. Trees in front of pin often deflectt great shots. Hole 6 is harder than it looks. Again multiple lines offer numerous shot opportunities/development. Hole 7 again has a few lines through trees as well as a often-used spike hyper line. Hole 8 is a mando. Many people lay up. Going for it and missing the tight mando offers you a 45' straight shot for par. Hole 9 is a tight line through a wide tunnel. You gotta play it to see what I mean. You could play the whole course with a Roc & putter. This doesn't make it lame however. Very light use allows you to make lots of extra shots Potentialas you please.

Muddy teeboxes, sticks on ground effect rollers, only parts of course get mowed but the weeds add a nice touch and don't affect your ability to find your disc.

Potential talk of putting in another 9-holes up above the course as it is.

1) Mostly grass. Kept trimmed. Not a lot of weeds.
2) All good baskets and well marked tees.
3) Short. Can play 9 holes in 40 minutes.
4) Some challenges for each hole.
5) In town and close for me.

We are learning the game and this course is just right for us. If you are an experienced player, the course might be too short without enough obstacles. It presents challenges for us and helps us learn how to deal with them without being too frustrating. The City of Delta keeps the grass mowed so you will not be trampling through a lot of weeds. Someone has added flags to mark "backwards" tee pads to make 18 holes out of 9 baskets. Not enough use to cause conflicts but makes it more interesting to play backwards. Flags will disappear when the city mows the grass.
