Review by Redwingsrox5 in course Winthrop University Lakefront

3.00 star(s) Passing through on vacation -Awesome baskets. Probably the best I've seen in a while. -Location is beautiful. Love the different shots around the lake and courts. -Wasn't terribly hard. Being an OK disc golfer, I found myself at par or bogie on most holes. Heck even got a birdie on one...

Rip finger is killing me (rhbh)

I had the same problems when I started throwing. Since I've played a bunch in the last few months I've developed a nice new callase on my finger. Still gets tender from time to time though. I found that it all started when I was throwing newer discs that had a sharper edge to it.

Discs flying too high in the air??

A few things I was taught when throwing sidearm. Grip and form is key for the snap and release of the disc. It sounds like you're either throwing a disc that is too fast for your arm speed, or you're swinging your arm up at release. No matter how you wind up and throw, your elbow needs to...

    Xstep Beginners Advice

So I've been playing for almost two months. As I began throwing I decided to take it slow and simple by just doing a stand still drive rather than learn the Xstep off the rip. My reasoning behind this was that I didnt want to have to think about too much when throwing when I didnt even know...

    Burned by organized DG

I'm a newbie as my tag shows to this sport. I've played all kinds of competitive sports throughout my life and this is another I can see myself getting into competitively, but I'll say this. You'll always have competition and a drive to be better than the next person out there because let's...

Review by Redwingsrox5 in course Portage Lakes DGC

4.00 star(s) First time Woods Disc'in -Excellent course to practice a variety of shots -Has a little bit of everyone for every skill level -Front is easier than the back. So if you're new to a lot of trees getting in the way, front is a great 9 to play vs the back (has more water) -Very well maintained...

    Beginner backhand throwing advise

Thanks. I was just wondering because some people had suggested doing a run/walk up because it'll help with getting my weight transfer.

    Beginner backhand throwing advise

Do you recommend working on the walk up now or just keep practicing stand still?

    Pivoting on heel issues

So basically the purpose of this drill isn't so much the pivot action on the heel as much as getting the muscle memory down for weight transfer? Am I correct on that statement? Because if I'm understanding this correctly, that's a great drill!

    Monthly Disc Golf Subscriptions

Has anyone tried or is currently subscribed to any disc golf membership? If so, what has your experience been with them and which one is them. I've seen a few out there, some offering 3-5 discs a month for $40 plus "swag". Others are 2 disc plus gear for $29. I'm finding there's a few...

    Beginner backhand throwing advise

I've only 3 weeks into learning how to throw a disc. I did take a slow motion video, that I'm quite embarrassed to post because I can see a lot wrong with it. Anyway, what's some advise for just starting out throwing a backhand? I currently dont do a run up, because I'm working on form more...

Review by Redwingsrox5 in course Schneider Park

2.50 star(s) First Time Disc Golfing Fun course for the family. My 9yr old, 2 1/2yr old, wife and my 5mo old (in a stroller) walked 6 holes fairly easy. My 2 1/2 yr old did find the the playground at the end of hole #6 more exciting though. It wasn't terribly challenging, which was what 3 beginners were...

Along the lines of discs to own, any recommendations on videos to watch for getting your throws down? I see a lot out there.

    Disc storage

You guessed it. When I got into hockey we didn't have a team in Ohio so it was either Pittsburgh or Detroit. Being a former Browns fan, I couldn't go with Pittsburgh. I played defense so I always liked Lidstrom. Thanks for the quick reply. Wasn't sure if there would be an issue since...

    Disc storage

Any recommendations on disc storage? I live in Ohio so it can go from 90 degrees in the summer to -10 in the winter. Besides the temperature what about how you leave them lay? Am I good to just leave them in my bag, out of the sun?

what disc should i begin with??

Very interesting responses here. I too am new to disc golf, but have a bunch of friends that play. I see a lot of ppl recommend not getting a driver and just using a mid range. My buddy hooked me up and told me to use a 7 or 8 speed driver to start just to get the hang of it. I'm sure I have...
