is this ok?

I would recommend going up to a Teebird before you jump to the Valk only because a BH teebird is one of the best things you can be doing in Disc Golf. If you skipped it, you might miss out on that experience.
 
Imo, while the tbird and leopard are great discs, something with a lil turn and fade will do you well.
Cyclone, gazelle,and cheetah are good picks.
Xl's, jls', and tl's would treat you well but the advantage of the first picks is that they'll teach you to throw higher.

The best disc I found for bh form is discrafts comet. 175 is a good starting weight. The mako and fuse are simillar.
