[Innova] The Valkyrie, a discussion.........

Before I got a couple blizzard discs, I was loving a Pro Valk+ as my max D driver, big turn, reliable fade, lots of glide! I have several champ, dx, star, and pro Valks in various forms.

I haven't been to excited about the Blizzard plastics, but after seeing some people in my skill level really work them well in last weekend's tournament, I'm curious. What blizz's do you have? I have a Star Katana, Pro Destroyer, Champ Wraith, Echo Star Boss that I don't like any of them at all. I really like my Star Valk and other speed 9's, but am curious how a blizzard would work for me.

the valk will be more workable than a blizzard disc. in my opinion anyway. the blizz stuff may get you more D, but a valk is much more controllable. its better in the wind too from what ive gathered.

I love the valk. It is my go-to driver. I love it. I have 2 DX's and a Champ.. I plan on getting a new Champ and a Star Valk.. 4 Valks will work fine for me :) The disc doesn't get enough love!!

I picked up 2 older 171 5x Champs (flat) and 2 new 175 Star Valks (big domes). The domey stars seemed to get better distance, while the flat ones had really abrupt turn and not as much glide. I pulled them from my bag after maybe 30 rounds because they weren't doing anything for me that a beat Teebird or Wraith couldn't.

Fine enough disc though.

I'm 42 and feel like it while on the course, and my max D so far is 310. My 171 gm Star Valkyrie is my main driver.

Thanks for saying that. There is so much "I get my Rocs out to 375' and am struggling to get over 400 feet" on this site that I wonder where all the normal people are.

I was having a really hard time breaking 290 - could only touch it with my Avenger SS. I used my Valk in a right to left 15 MPH wind, purposefully drove it over the OB line into the side wind hoping it would come back. It did and actually went past the basket. Basket was 296 and I was totally stoked that I got 310!

I have 4 5x jk valks in my bag. Got a ton more at not in the bag. Most used forehand disc for me. I can make a valk do anything I want

I use Valks as my max d drivers, and love them. I currently carry a 4x JK Pro, and a CE and I actually prefer the jk pro for some reason I just like the feel a little more. My CE valk is a little more stable(same weight, 172). I have never really used them for rollers, but they sure do fly far when thrown on a nice hyzer flip.

i have a red clearish gummy 170g champ valk thing is ridiculous stable i cant turn it over without oat which baffles me. plastic feels so odd for champ its flat as far as valks go as well.

Honestly, over the last two or three weeks, I probably haven't thrown any other driver besides a roller here or there. I have two Wraiths and have been using them fairly exclusively in the driver slot, alterating shots with them. I have put a few other light drivers in my bag now too, likea 150 Champ valk, 162 Champ TeeBird, etc.

They may or may not add distance, but if you can throw with considerably less effort and get the same distance, that's a good thing to me. The Wraiths seem workable on flex shots, slight turnovers, long turning with good fade bombs etc. I think I can throw one 300' or more from a dead standstill.

I am itching to get a boss for more overstableness!

My friend as a JK valk that is beat up a little and it is like a longer more reliable diamond just an all a round good hyer flip finish right disc any idea what kind of valk would be easiest to get that flight for some one that didnt get a JK valk?

I used to be very passionate about Valkyries but have since moved on. The early Valkyries that I fell in love with are hard to find and pricey. I had an old CE Valk that was purplish blue with a white halo around the outer edge...really miss that disc. It was my workhorse for 10+ years. I've thrown the new Valkyries in both star and champ...good discs but not the same. Enjoying the Blizzard Destroyers and Boss's lately. I'd still be throwing the Valkyries if I had a stack of these on the shelf:

Both the Valkyries I have thrown were very stable. One was a beat to garbage Champion max weight that I found and the owner didn't want back.

I think the Star 175g that I have now is a plus mold, the inner rim is at a severe angle. Also more stable than I expected.

2.) Which ones do you throw?

I currently have a beat to hell star and a fairly new champ glow in the bag.

I actually lost the star valk for about 2 years and someone finally found it and called me. I was so excited to get it back that I gave the kid 3 new discs in return. He was a n00b, so I wanted to ensure that he understood how much regular players appreciate the call.

It was my go-to driver before I lost it. Very, very happy to have it back even though it still takes a back seat to my SL's right now.
