[Vibram] Vibram Disc Golf Thread (Part II)

id buy a vibram lid -- it would make a really "friendly" catch disc in soft Xlink... Could even throw them inside :D

To me i would like to see a gator style vibram disc, a firebird in vibram rubber, and a roadrunner in vibram. i think that would complete the vibram set with those 3 discs and maybe an understable mid range.

Yes, yes and yes to all three.

We've been a touch slower than I would have initially hoped this year, but overall, I'm much happier with slow and steady releases than what some others have done. I see a grid of 16 discs as being the base and by Summer of next year, we will be very close to having that grid full.

I see Tom Kim started a petition to get us to make a slow, deep, overstable putter. Perhaps it would double as a good, rubber catch disc for warming up. Where would you all put this in the priority queue? (I know where I've got it pegged, I want to hear more input to see if I should tweak my thinking.)
I only throw 3 mold that are not Vibram. a flying squirrel (understable disc faster then an ibex slower then a trax less stable the either), a trident very over stable mid/fairway, and a Prometheus( I use this for rollers the big diameter allows it to roll like crazy). I would put the a true understable mid/fairway and a true overstable mid/fairway as the first 2 on my list then the lid. I would like the lid in XLG though glowing lids rock.

I throw and love the multi-color Vibrams, but I was happy to see some solid color Vibram in my most recent order. Sometimes I have a hard time during a round explaining what color my disc (that we're looking for) is..."Well, its red. But part blue. And if it is upside down, its orange. And green."

Ha! Yes, been there, too. It's funny trying to tell someone what color a Vibram disc is.

I agree with the overstable/understable fairway and mid range disc. I love my Ibex but I would like something with a bit more turn to it. I'd really like to see an overstable FW cause I flip my ascent sometimes and I'd something that wouldn't flip. I want a Mobex but i'm content with an Obex for now

Welcome back, Steve. I'd keep the Tom Kim project low on the priority list.
This.
I'd worry about the OS/US fairways, Mobex/Ubex, and then the lid.
This, except I'd prioritize it with US fw and mid, then lid, then overstable stuff. The best part about Vibram is the Bash, and I think it would be greatly improved with some more n00b friendly selections like a Ubex and a Trak SS or something. I had guys that were really bad and only the Un-Lace was understable enough for them to get any distance on but the Un-Lace is still pretty fast for n00bs.

Oh yeah, a heaping helping of this.

I'd say pretty low on the priority queue as well, Steve. I would LOVE another overstable disc but in the form of an Xbex (extremely overstable Ibex) or a MOFWY (massively/extremely/super overstable Ascent).

I can agree to that. Would definitely help out more than half of the people that show up to the birdie bash in my area.

One thing I'd like to see if the Birdie Bash reopened for the Fall/Early Winter. There are not a lot of events in my area in October/November and the weather could help to highlight the benefits for throwing rubber in the cold.

Random Vibram question:

Anyone know if they are going to make Glow Soles this time around? Last year they didn't, which made me sad.

We did a two month run of solid color discs to see what people think. Earlier this week, I had production switch back to swirls, so if you want a solid, get 'em while they last. Based on reaction, we might do it again.

I vote for two color swirls. I like them predominantly one color with an edge or stripe so the spin on discs can be seen. I have noticed that it seems to be the objective on some discs? Keep em multi, but keep working on techniques that produce bold stripes that our easy to see. And that water melon color can go away. Haha. I would Never throw green discs or brown or black without a bold stripe or contrast against it.

About the Lace

Spent some more time with my Lace before giving up on it as too under stable and I'm glad I did. Works pretty good and goes mostly straight on a low flight path with a tailwind.

Got it out as long as anything else I have thrown. It bombs. Not sure if a ultra high speed driver is staying in my bag or not though, so I'd be stoked on a PD like 9-10 speed driver or something and more fairways and mids.
