Legit disc bag for under $100?

Looking at REI's hiking bags, there are plenty over $200.

Note that the material used in hiking bags is less durable (read less expensive) than what is used in the quality dg bags. Plus, manufacturers like Gorilla Boy make them by hand -- like 250+K$ English & Italian cars -- just sayin'.

I have no problem buying an American made bag for $200.

what is the usual program for pre-orders?
1)until we get enough dough piled up to get started making them
or
2)just a time frame,lets get started
my wife wants one of the salient bags, but she doesnt want to wait for a year (one month at a time)

after rereading the salient thread, i see there is a date set for the preorder to end

If the o.p. was serious about a bag for under a 100 he has recieved a lot of options the best value I think hands down would be a fade tourney (holds 20+) and throw some innova straps and there is a reliable rig that will last a couple years for about 70 or 80 bucks but im starting to think the o.p. has no real intrest in this other than to bitch about the price......when the Ozark first came out my gf at the time was like wtf you paid 150 for that but what else was there the revo........people will always bitch about everything that costs any money but come on how else is the sport supposed to grow by companys taking losses I think not

Was going to say basically the same thing he did ^^^

I have TWO competition bags, with quad-straps and while it's a step up from the shoulder carry, it's not even close to the comfort from my Grip bag. You get what you pay for (even if the price is up there - so what, you get a lifetime warranty!)

I don't know about them PAYING for themselves, as I don't foresee my bag getting a sidejob to chip in for rent or anything, but as I said the lifetime warranty is an awesome thing.

I've said this in another thread, I love the way the A-Series and L-Series grips look, but not all backpack bags are stylish, in fact some are quite ugly...and the salient disc bag is NO exception...sorry that horrid handle on top is just tacky  Also, I'm not too impressed with the Ergo's look either. Keep in mind this is personal opinion here.

I agree with a lot of what you said. The $250 bags come with the kind of polish you might want in a tourney bag and has that swag factor going with glossy trim. But its reaching pretty far to call the Saliant ugly. If that handle is the only issue you have? Seems to be made of at least 400-600 denier fabric or whatever and durably well designed with bright and vibrant colors that don't hide anything in the pics. Seems on par for quality at half the price? and made in USA. Thats value, which is what I was looking for when I started the thread

1. They are getting paid hand over fence so why do they give a **** about peple like yourself who only want to spend $100 on a bag
2. You can't compare golf and disc golf. Golf is played on a much wider scale....more people buying = larger market = cheaper, wide spread manufacturing = cheaper bags.
3. i could go on and on with common sense but i feel like its prolly already been said.

Im gonna let common sense and math spell out the truth for you if you want to be rude with your 1'st and 3rd comment.

Saliant offered that pack for $80 with 4 discs to raise brand awareness and obviously still made cash so what does that tell you?
Forgive me for wanting to discuss lower cost options for bags since I can easily use common sense to figure out there is a market for them and the margins are well beyond healthy.
I don't care if it's $100 or X? amount for a bag. I just want one at a reasonable price, or better yet at a value price. Or at least to avoid being gouged
Have you nothing better to do than attack someone for seeking more affordable alternatives?
My main point was there is money to be made and customers to satisfy? Why not bring the 2 together somewhere in the middle?

I think if you also look at golf bags the quality ones are also in the $200+ price point . The one you posted is a POS and all of the top tier DG bags are far superior in materials, workmanship and warranty.

Quality almost always costs money and if you do the math it works out to pennies a round.\

I see a lot of people knocking the saliant, but lacking specific's on what's wrong with the bag? Seems like the pictures I am looking at our of quality thick deneir that looks durable? A leather or more gummy? handle than the hard looking plastic might be the only knock, but that could easily be covered by your course rag or other material?
But seriously, what's wrong with it? Besides not looking as fancy.

There's always the trusty Wal-Mart plastic bag to carry all your stuff. Not only is the price right, but you won't have a hard time replacing it when it goes to hell. Plus it will hold all your PBR talls, extra sleeveless cutoff Tshirt, your woman's 3 packs of Newport Lights, and your three babys' extra diapers and generic juice boxes. Everybody wins.

Haha^^^

I dig this post

If I was in love with something for $200 like that? Would be so tempting, throw in a disc... or.... two .......and Bam

At $250? It is kind of a serious luxury item for a dude with other priorities.

Either buy a few cheap bags, or one "Luxury" bag and be done with it.

Nah, I could seriously throw down for a Saliant, or probably a buddy pack from that company that offers them.but Im not likely to get in on this run If it isn't already gone. Not quite ready to pull the trigger. The Market is responding with new products and I'm still not carrying a ton of discs.
No doubt though
I will own a quality pack to wear that both lightens the load and increases my effenciency of motion on the course:D
Im an old guy, need all the help I can get.;)

pre orders are still continuing. The contender had its share of issues in the first run, but it looks like the catalyst will be a solid bag from the get go

Get a Plano fishing tackle bag. $25ish and hold 18 discs with plenty of extra pockets for gear. Problem solved.
