[DGA] DGA disc talk

Yup. Only Flex SP hurricanes so far. There was a run of gummier SP aftershocks as well, but they aren't officially Flex plastic. And I can tell you, after having thrown many Katanas and both the illegal proto and legal first run Torrents, they are more HSS than Katanas. They are equally squirrelly into a headwind though. I threw the new first runs and have to say that the plastic feels amazing, and they boooomb. It flew just as far as my go to beat Destroyer, and will probably only gain distance as it beats in.

I'm just gonna go on and mention the Blowfly. It is one of the most fun discs I've tossed. While it doesn't make the bag due to what I find to be a necessary unique (read:ultimate) throwing motion, it tops mostly every catch disc and warm up disc I own. I've used it for approaches and putts in the past, and did take a liking to it but it didn't take over any spot.

On a slightly less blasphemous note, the Rogue hits some great lines. I lost mine a few years ago and haven't replaced it, but wouldn't hesitate to put a new one in my bag.

Started throwing a Proline Hurricane the last few months and I love it. Started out very overstable, but now it's breaking in to hyzer flip and still hold the fade at the end. First wide rim driver i held that didn't feel like wide rim driver. I'll be looking for more soon.

I have an SP Squall and it is noticably more stable than the Proline version. Slightly overstable and should slowly beat into dead straight. The only thing keeping it out of my bag is the slick plastic... going to try out the baking soda/pot scrubber trick - thanks Declarkus/ThreeVok.

Midnight Flyer Glow Squall is a grippier SP. I have a newer run SP Breaker that has a little more grip than my older shield stamp run. Not sure if the same applies for new SP Squall run...

So discraft has come out with their Z-lite plastic do you think it will work its way down to DGA? What would they call it? I would be interested in a Hurricane and I'm sure the undertow would get some love.

I thought about this too. They'll probably just call it SP Lite, but here's some names I was kicking around:
SPACE
SPRITE (space lightning)
SPINNAKER
SPRINKLE
WingSPan
Sky
Cloud
Vapor
Geyser
Thermal
Virga
Cirrus

As far as molds I would want in "Sky' plastic:
Tsunami
Hurricane
Rogue

I don't like the Blowfly, but might consider a BlowSky. I would also be intrigued by a Flathead Cyclone or XL Superdrive

A Thermal Tsunami sounds pretty cool.
The Rogue would be an easy one seeing they are making a Surge SS Z lite and they are almost the same disc.

DGA can use the Lite release as a way to promote some molds that didn't get the love they deserve. The Vapor Rogue is the perfect choice. It could convert some Blizzard Katana fans. I think I saw Z-Lite Preds, and since the Tsunami and Undertow are essentially the same mold, they could fill the OS and the US slots. I could see a Thermal Tsunami flying like a Blizzard Ape, and the Cloud Undertow would be a flip machine.

Quick question - is the Sp. plastic from DGA the same as Z? Getting ready to try a Breaker and curious about the durability.

Not a fan of DGA's new "bullet" logo. It takes the all important basket out and minimizes the logo into something nearly unrecognizable as disc golf related. No thanks.

Maybe the new logo will mean that we get new stamps on discs. Not that I care that much , but the proline stamps really need updating.

SP is basically Z/Champ plastic. I'm guessing SP is short for Sparkle Plastic, b/c it has metal flake sprinkled in to the blend. As far as I can tell, my SP Breaker flight really hasn't changed, and I throw it a bunch. With its rounded shape, it really doesn't nick. The newer runs have a gummier feel.

SP Breaker is amazingly versatile. I'm still learning new ways to use it. It's very useful in the woods and great off the tee. I don't have much of a FH, but when I'm forced to flick approach, the shallow, smooth bottom allows me to confidently pin seek. My favorite shot is a low BH approach on a slight hyzer, that bumps then curls around the pole. I call it the Parking Break.

SP plastic not just Z with sparkle, in my experience. SP seems more grippy, and appears to be a unique blend. Same with Proline vs ESP...not the same.

I think SP is similar to Z maybe not exactly the same but when it comes to durability its the same. My SP hurricanes have taken some solid hits on rocks with very minimal damage.

The new Logo doesn't make me think Disc Golf which is seems strange that it represents the company that brought you disc golf some new designs on the discs would be cool

I wonder if they did make a bubble plastic disc if they could still put metal flakes in it so its still SP?
