Guess I can list them:

Colorado
Georgia
Illinois
Iowa
Kentucky
Maine
Massachusets
Michigan
Minnesota
New Hampshire
North Dakota
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Texas
Vermont
Wisconsin

Whoops. Looks like it's only 16. My bad.

Go here to filter out courses that don't meet review quantity requirements.

I still consider Deis to be #1 in the state

And I was supposed to get HBH this Fall. Stupid virii...

Getting OH tomorrow or Tuesday...

...at which point I'll have the top 4

I've played in 35 states, I gather most states I've played the top rated one but I don't have time to research that.

Update, only 19 now. Decreased by one the last year.

AR - Old Post
KS - Jones Park - West
KY - Idlewild
LA - Lake Claiborne SP - Whitetail
OK - The Lodge - Island Course
TX - Selah Ranch (now Hope Ranch) - Lakeside

So just 6, at least I have all the states around me, I will be able to add a 7th next week, as of this moment I plan on playing The Rez next week on a quick little trip to jackson MS

It was bugging me, so I went to my laptop and figured it out. I've bagged the #1 ranked course in 12 states:
GA, IL, KY, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, PA, SC, TN, WV

Guess I'm a better cherry picker than I realized. :)

But yeah, Martin has more #1's, than I have states. Mr. Syme's seen a few courses...
Up to 14 as of April: Iron Hill in DE, and Stafford Woods in NJ.

WI - Rollin Ridge
IL - Fairfield Park
IA - Wildcat Bluff
MN - Blue Ribbon Pines
MI - Flip City
KY - Idlewild
MO - Harmony Bends
ND - Iwen Park North
WV - Whippin Post

Hope to add one more in September. Spearfish Canyon in South Dakota.

I got a couple #2's, but not the top.

OH - Mt. Airy
PA - Moraine

I've only played 7 that are officially top in their state on the DGCR list when sorting by state. However, I could claim credit for 9 easily, possibly 10 with just a little finagling.

Delaware - Iron Hill (my only Delaware course, actually)
Florida - Picnic Island
Maryland - Seneca Creek State Park
Missouri - Harmony Bends
Oklahoma - The Lodge, Island Course - I've played the Top 5
Texas - Selah Lakeside (I've played 6 out of top 7)
West Virginia - Whippin' Post (I've played the Top 5)

Somewhat debatable:
Indiana? - Seviren Lang (I haven't played Prides Creek but it only has 12 reviews...)
Ohio? - Mt. Airy (I haven't played Caesar Ford Park but it only has 11 reviews...)
Pennsylvania - honorable mention because I've played Deer Lakes and Moraine which easily challenge Muddy Run for top in state

It was fun to put this list together since I have played in 34 states so far. There were a few close calls and missed out on a few by 0.05 or similar numbers like in Ohio, I have played Mt. Airy, but Caesar Ford Park edged it out 4.18 to 4.13. Also in PA, Muddy Run has a 4.69 but didn't exist when I played Moraine State Park and it's currently at 4.66.

Alabama - The Admiral
Colorado - Bucksnort
Delaware - Iron Hill
Georgia - *Flyboy @ 4.90 (With an * because Hobbs Farm with a 4.65 is currently listed as the official #1)
Illinois - Fairfield
Kentucky - Idlewild
Maryland - Seneca Creek State Park
Michigan - Flip City
Minnesota - Blue Ribbon Pines
Missouri - Harmony Bends
North Carolina - Diavolo
Oklahoma - The Lodge
Texas - Selah Ranch
Wisconsin - Rollin Ridge

There were a number of states where I have a top 10 bag, but not 2 or 3 and most of those states listed above I have a few others on the top 10 list. I have it in my personal mission to get a top 10 course played from every state. Who knows if I actually get around to doing that, but it sure is fun seeing the best every state has to offer.

...it sure is fun seeing the best every state has to offer.

^ this.

For the most part, the ratings aren't able to provide meaningful/accurate rankings among the top 3-5 courses in a given state.

When the difference between course ratings is less than 0.1 disc, there's a decent chance "agenda-based reviews" have skewed ratings by a few hundredths or so.... which can impact the order of the rankings.

Nonetheless, if you hit any of a state's top 5, it's more than likely to be pretty special.

Just 2, Echo Valley in Ohio and Idlewild in Kentucky. Wildhorse Afternoon course is in the top 5 in Nevada, but isn't #1.

Played The Rez so add MS - The Rez to this list.

Hadn't looked at this before...
I've played the top course in Michigan (top 8, so I'm pretty safe there).

But only the 2nd best in four other states (Colorado, Wisconsin, Georgia, Ohio). Gonna need to go hand out a few 5.0 ratings... ;) lol

Hoping to add IL (Fairfield) and regain VA (Lake Marshall - Lions) this year. I've played 9 of the top 10 in MD and PA, but only 4 of the top 10 in VA - need to work on that. :D
