So there's a lot of threads about favorite disc, favorite disc to throw and such, but what was your favorite throw you've made?

Mine was last year with my ESP Stalker. It was extremely windy out, playing a brand new course to me. The hole we were on was in a tunnel with no wind about 30-40' out before the hole opened up to a right bend turn behind a tree with the basket right on the edge of a small cliff. I needed it to curve right, but not right away, and my FH is terrible. So I throw my Stalker hard and low on a hyzerflip, it goes out straight about the 100' before cutting right behind the tree and skipping just over the basket, landing 15' away right on the edge of the cliff. The shot did exactly what I tried to do, (except go in the basket) with a lot of factors.

Now, missing the putt as the now tailwind knocked my disc down to doink off the bottom, way less fun. :wall:

Oh man, this is a toughie, but I gotta say it was my first ace. May 5, 2007. Hole 7 at Plymouth Creek, aka "The Gatekeeper". Forehanded my Sirius Orion LF with slight hyzer, it flipped to flat, went dead nuts straight, faded out of my line of sight, and then I heard it, the unmistakable clatter of a disc striking a chains at high velocity. The group teeing off on hole 8 start yelling and screaming. I ran down the stairs to get a bead on the basket, and sure enough, the Orion was hung up in the chains. Even with visual confirmation, I was still in disbelief. Definitely my favorite throw.

my last ace. 290 slight down hill right turn have to hit a gap between two trees in the fairway. floated my proxy and hit the gap. my buddy said i think that may go in. a second later chains and it stuck. it was in the air for a good time making its turn i knew i hit it when it hit the gap in the trees. was so fun to watch cause it took forever.

My thumber ace at last year's Colorado State Disc Golf Championships. I love throwing thumbers and to get an ace through the trees like that was something special.

My ace on hole 24 at Blue Ribbon Pines this year. Big hyzer with a Pro Wraith straight into the chains with about 15 people watching it come in at the snack shack.....

Hole #5 @ Gateway DGC Fort Worth during the Texas Open. 707 ft hole, par 5, loaded with trees the first 400ft or so, then dogleg left to the basket. I was behind and knew I needed a good drive. Said...wth..went for it. Unleashed a strong hyzer flip that zig-zagged through the trees, caught some wind on the fade and went all the way through the trees. Had a chance for an eagle, blew it. Had a chance for bird, blew it. lol.. :)

Mine was probably a weird one and not a shot in a round.

Playing Quarry Park on the "nipple" hole 16 - an uphill hole at 280' to a raised basket. OB pen on the right hand side which blocks the hyzer to an extent, trees to the left blocking the forehand, narrowish gap up the middle.

Was having a throw around trying to ace run a few holes. Threw a backhand Boss dead straight up the middle, absolute laser line and banged into the bucket, with a load of new players standing near to the basket watching having just cleared the hole.

Thought I'd throw another one and threw the exact same shot with another Champ Boss, hitting the exact same place on the bucket.

Had quite a few aces but it was that I threw a carbon copy of the first throw that still sits with me about that one.

Edit* to clarify neither were actually aces just hit the bucket n the same spot. Shoulda aimed higher...

My most recent Ace - Hole 9 at Parma. 242' downhill, over an OB creek. Flat putter shot with a Plasma Ion.

First PDGA event, at the course I learned to play on, next to last hole of the second round - my first ace ever.

Everyone else on the card was super excited, and I just stood there in disbelief. Only ace of the tournament and I won my division, so my first tournament experience was kinda awesome in large part because of that throw...

Man, this is a challenging question. 87,000+ shots recorded in the scorebook. :)
I think my favorite shots aren't the ones where I was pleasantly surprised by a good result (a wind-assisted ace, for instance), but when I stood looking at a challenging, but possible line, threw a 'here goes my best' effort, and it did exactly what I was intending, plus a bit more.
[I must preface these by saying, on a flat, windless tee shot, 300' is about my average 'D'.]
One that comes to mind is teeing off from long 4 at Simsbury (468') and actually getting the shot to turn over into a beautiful, downhill S-curve (rhbh), and glide through the lane, right to the face of the terrace, for a long deuce opportunity (which I blew, of course).
I've lined a similar, long S down the blind, 411' #4 at Mason Sports Park twice now, for easy deuces (made)
But I'd say, the 'best' shots are saving par or deucing from 100' to 170' out (done maybe a half dozen times), again, because those a are clutch 'field aces' that I intended to make, and did exactly what the doctor ordered!

That's a tough hole to make it through. I've only ever had one shot that almost made the cut through the trees at the end. Didn't quite get out though and pinballed my approach off a tree 20' away. Basket was in the short position, so I think I took a +1 with a 5.

Old hole 10 at Oakland top course from the 'parking lot' tee pad. Hyzer flipped a striker on a lazer line between the fence at the pool and a tree, smashed an ace with about 20 people in the vicinity...it would have went 50' past the basket if it hadn't hit it :D Lots of cheering and high fives after that one!

Parking hole 18 in a playoff to take my division in the Philly Open at Sedgley the other year.

Sliding up right to the pole with a DX Teebird on a dead straight 300'+ tunnel shot. Good shot, not my best... But it was the first time I heard a card of randoms fawn over my shot.

Rip-It doubles round with 3 teams, standing on the tee #17 at Timmons and lining up a thumber, Fran walks up holding a card out saying "I'm supposed to be pestering you right now".
I stop mid-throw, grab the card and read to him from it "to be displayed after the player's throw" and hand it back. He stares down at the card and without looking I just chuck my Fbird while he's distracted...

BOOM, ace. :hfive:

Hole 9, Dragan Field in Auburn,ME. Recently put my S-PD within 10' of the basket on this hole. Just one of the purest feeling and looking shots that I have thrown. I think that was the last hole that I needed for a deuce on every hole on that course.

Last ace. Token (Vallarta-Ast), hole 14, white position from long tees. Beautiful gentle anhyzer with a beat medium Trak. Right into the sweet spot 290' away.

Utility pole pretty much lined up in the middle of the fairway between the tee and the basket, with a mando to the left of the pole. Threw a flex shot that anhyzered perfectly around the pole. The disc faded back to rest at the base of the little hill that the basket's on, and for once I even nailed the birdie putt.

I only have 1 ace in 17 years of playing, so it would be hard to pick something else.

Playing my regular spot in Schenley Park with some friends for Worlds Biggest weekend back in '04. Playing Hole #4, only about 220' with a couple headcase trees up front (buddy hit one just before me) and a steep slope to OB on the left. Tossed it nice and easy with my Cobra (the go-to mid at the time) and it faded just perfectly. Had to rub my eyes to believe it. First ace between anyone I played with at the time so it was a pretty sweet moment.
