[Innova] Best Wraith Plastic?

Now that I'm looking at some of the hole distances at my home course, I'm realizing I can handle 325' no problem. From all this feedback, it seems everyone has had different results with Star and Pro plastics. Some say Star plastic breaks into a sweet spot; others say it doesn't break in at all. Some say Pro plastic breaks in too quickly, some say it would be perfect.

I'm hearing a lot of people say GStar. Could someone clarify the difference between GStar and Star stability? Innova is pretty vague on this.

You didn't say what weight your DX Wraith was.

My DX Wraith was 172g. The Champ Wraith (The overstable one) is also 172g. This is why I am so sure the flight difference is related to the plastic's wear/stability.

GStar breaks in quicker then Star, slower then Pro. Stability is generally between Star and Pro also.

I only have a flat af Champ Wraith, but I'd say anything but that. It's overstable when flat and Champ, flies just like my Starfires.

GStar is a lot like Star, but is softer and generally relatively less stable. Experience and user feedback over time suggests GStar wears in more quickly than Star and Champion with similar usage.

Thanks for the replay about the weights. Maybe a 167-168g Star Wraith would work for you, and would season in nicely with use.

Champion Wraiths are actually very good, long as you find a domey one with some glide. They won't wear out either. Next best choice is Star. Pro wears too quickly.

I throw wraiths and I have a similar throwing distance.(320-340)

I have two star wraiths, both the same weight(168), same dome, same PLH. One is brand new and is very OS. The other however, has around a year of Spike hyzers and thumber use to break it in. It's in that sweet spot everyone refers too. With around 330 foot of power and a slight hyzer angle I get a very tight s-curve with a nice forward fade. My 3rd wraith is a 175 dx that has some use on it that I can easily hyzerflip with 70% power that I also use for rollers.

My cousin however, has two Echo star wraiths at 167 grams and I could hyzerflip those brand new. Both with about a medium amount of dome on them. Because he had two of them it may be a common thing. If you are willing to shop around to find the Premium plastic wraith that's more flippy then Echo Stars are worth looking into in my opinion. Gstar is also a good choice.

If we're talking about most controllable distance, then my vote is for Echo Star. I too have a 167 mild domed e* wraith that is very fun to throw for the reason mentioned above

I have star gstar champ and ecostar wraiths. In my bag. All do a little something different. I would def say the gstar would be your best bet. Look for one a little softer then the others if you buy locally. It will beat in a little faster for you. If I had to talk straight out of the box stability it would be. DX-gstar-pro-ecostar-champ-star. Been finding myself throwing a ecostar more and more.

I like to cycle Pro Wraiths. I feel like I get more snap with the plastic. They beat in to nice dependable turnover discs.

That being said I do have a Star that I use as a go to when I need a bit more stability.

I was given a well used 170g Star Wraith several months ago and I am a less than 300 ft thrower so I just recently started using it. Man, I love that thing. It is just rock stable for me, throws dead straight with some fade at the end. If I should happen to lose it I would be looking for a replacement immediately!

Don't think Star is your answer imo. They are known for being over stable from what I can recollect and have seen first hand. I have two Star that are worn and quite flat. They don't turn and glide like DX in my experience. Talking from 400ft max d experience with DX when I was throwing them a year ago

Trying to build a Wraith lineup around a fantastic 168 Star that is a perfect middle stability for me. For downwind US throws, would a light DX Wraith work? There will be no trees involved on these throws.

Echostar gets flippy at a decent rate and would hold it for a while before becoming too flippy, but sadly that plastic is going the wayside.

Pro beats in faster than echo in my experience.

A light DX would probably work as well, but I'm not sure how much tailwind we're talking about, and how much flip you actually want in the tailwind. Sometimes you gotta throw to know!

If you like and are committed to the Wraith mold, why not buy one of each? They are all going to fly differently but that's a good thing if you want it to be. Being able to throw the same mold on a number of different lines is something some people like to do. Others hate the idea. But at least you'd know first hand what they all do.

The Wraith is the only mold I do this with. I've had a hard time over the years finding a high speed driver that was comfortable to use and offered in so many good plastics. A few months ago I lost my go to beat up Star Wraith. It takes a while for Star to season so now I'm working in a lighter Pro to pair with my os/heavy Champion.

Depending on the course I'm playing I've got that Pro & Champion along with an older G* & a fresh Blizzard (159g) that get rotation in my bag.

Sure.
I'd probably choose Pro for that spot though. Might just need a touch of seasoning.

Dx wraiths are the best. Flip to flat and glide for a country mile.

They are the best until they aren't. Which can be quickly. It's a high speed driver so it hits trees at high speeds. Then you just have a taco. The good news is that you can basically buy 2 dx discs for every 1 premium plastic.
