Where are you going in 2023?

Started my day off right early this morning at Inverness. Excellent course in a beautiful setting. :)

Cedar Hill was very solid, lots of fun, reasonably well-balanced, quick and easy to navigate.

Oggwood was a fun time, and Phil is wonderful people. IMHO it's overrated at 4.4, but I suppose it's a lot more fun for events, glow, etc.

One more day to go...

Flying to Boston this weekend, gonna grab a few states and definitely Maple Hill. Hopefully 501 if I can fit it into the schedule.

501 is really nice, and it's only 30 minutes from Maple.

Borderland SP is also a great play if you're heading south from Boston.

Have fun!

So, played Keriakes and Freeman Lake, and the first 4 holes of Muldraugh. #5 nearly killed me.

Currently in my local Emergency room awaiting X-rays, catscan, and hopefully MRI.

Was walking down a steep hill after teeing off, and the muddy ground gave way and my left knee buckled under me, and as I was going down, my right knee buckled. Pretty sure both knees have extensive connective tissue damage.

I can't recall feeling pain like that. Eventually a 30's 'ish discer named Nicky came by and carried my bag back to his car, cameback and helped me back, too.

Cant walk on my own at this point (left quad basically not working, right is too painful), but once I got in the car, I was actually able to drive without discomfort.

Thank God I no longer own a manual trans.

Stopped a several drive through getting 3 large cups of ice several times to ice my knees as I drove. (Had a gallon ziploc back I'd filled with snacks).

Longest 400 miles of my life.

Hope I don't need surgery (it felt/feels that bad when I try to stand), but I'm already trying to laugh about it.

If I'd look back in a year and laugh, why wait?

That stinks, Bogey. And driving 400 miles afterwards sounds like the icing on a bad cake.

Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Appreciate the positive thoughts, guys!

The drive itself wasn't that bad. Worst part was getting from #5 to the car on a hilly, anything but park-style course. Nicky was a lifesaver.
Literally dragged me by my arms (lying on my back) across a wooden bridge to help me get out. At one point before he arrived, I was thinking about calling 911.

He pumped my gas when we got to a station nearby so I could drive home. Offered to fill his car, give him some cash, or a bunch of plastic. He was having none of that.

Genuinely a good great samaritan!
Thank God he came along! :)

Well that's just plain terrible Bogues. Hopefully everything checks out good, or at least minimal damage I guess. Wishing you a speedy recovery :thmbup::thmbup:

It's always good to think about the positives though.

At least it was the last day.

At least you got to play all those other great courses first.

At least there was a disc throwing superhero out there that day.

Now you might have time to write up some more of your excellent reviews for all of us to enjoy.

;)

Thanks everyone. Genuinely helps me keep a positive attitude just being able to reach out about it, and reading your posts.

X-rays negative (my gut was already telling me that). They took me for a cat scan, and I'm being admitted, at least overnight. Ice packs and ace bandages until ortho is able to weigh in with a diagnosis, probs later today.

Pretty sure the scan and possibly an MRI will show some pretty bad soft/connective tissue damage.

Not really in severe pain... until I try to bend my knee(s).

You should have seen me trying to get out of the place with my bag. Pretty pathetic!

According to UDisc, I made it about 250 ft closer to the 1st tee on my own, before Nicky and his chocolate lab Mishka came along, but there were a couple of slopes I never would have made it past without him.

Oh, man. Hope the it all sorts out given some time. It's funny how when you are out it doesn't hit you how you can become suddenly vulnerable like that. Good thing about disc golf is that while you can do it alone, there's usually other people out.

Dang, that sucks man. I've tripped/stumbled/fallen down a couple of times on a course but never got seriously injured, just had to endure my buddies laughs. Get well soon bud and hopefully you are able to throw this summer,

The drive reminded me of the time I stepped on a board with a nail in it and had to drive myself to the hospital in a pickup with a manual transmission using only one foot...It wasn't 4 hundred miles, more like 10 lol.
