My VIP Sword is breaking in nice now like I wanted it to but I kind of miss how dead stable it was when it was new. I could probably just get a new max weight VIP for this and it would stay that way since I'd throw it sparingly but I was curious if anybody could think of Sword similar driver that broke in to resemble the flight of a new/fresh Sword. Really HSS and slightly LSS, like 0, 2 in Innova speak.

TIA

It'll take a long time, but a high PLH C-PD should resemble that. It's slower than a sword though.

I think the "really HSS" in a driver's sweet spot will be tough to find as rim width grows.

If you throw far enough possibly a Boatman. I know a guy that throws them in place of swords in a strong headwind. Same rim width but a little shorter.

I max out at 350' with distance drivers, and at that power my boatman is too beefy to really be useful. It is still pretty new though.

Potentially a lighter weight TP Giant. But all discs are different and everyone throws different and all that.

350' is probably where I'm at also. Would a lighter TP Boatman break in to be more manageable maybe?

My Boatman is 172g TP. Still really fresh though. I think it would beat into something you want but might take a little bit, especially if you don't use that shot a lot.

I have seen quite a bit of variation in PLH on swords. Might just want to see if you can find a VIP (possibly heavier?) with a higher PLH.

The right fuzion trespass would probably be the closest to speed and the stability you are looking for. I say that because at the distance you gave of 350 a trespass won't really have much high speed turn unless given some anny or OAT. longer arms it will S curve for. If you want to get a little bit away from that speed a boatman or giant would be close. The giant is a little faster and little more OS when new but should beat in nice for you. Especially if you go with a lighter weightTP plastic. The boatman is technically a little slower I think but has a little more stability. You can also consider a riot. It's underrated in my opinion. It's not meathook OS but it's a little faster than the sword and a little bit more OS than a trespass. Maybe not quite as much as a giant. Honestly if you don't mind a little thicker rim the Riot could be perfect for you.

I recently put a Havoc and Riot in my bag and I'm loving both of them. The havoc turns and the riot handles some decent headwinds. This is all "trilogy" stuff I have the most experience with that. You could always just get a beefy destroyer. That's simple but then you have to search for that run you liked and it always seems to muddy the waters eventually.

I've got four TP Boatmen and they all fly slower and have a lot less glide due to its hard dumping fade compared to the couple TP Swords and VIP Sword I've owned. Do they make 150 class Boatmen, then maybe;)

Ever thrown a Riot? I liked how these used to beat-in before i threw swords. More OS when new and huge + rims but in the stability range you are looking for with very little lateral movement once seasoned up. Not sure if current runs are like when they first came out.

I don't like to use flight numbers as a reference but the flight numbers of the Teebird fit your needs perfectly. A Teebird may seem to low in speed for you but discs don't have distance limitations, people do. My Teebirds are laser straight for me at 400'.

C-DD1 imo
Intriguing. Any particular reason for C and not S?

Hmm, not crazy about huge + rims (part of the reason I gave up on the Halo) but no, I haven't thrown one. Inbounds disagrees with you on the lateral movement, FWIW.

Yeah but I'm looking for the *drumroll* longer Teebird. That's pretty much what my Swords are for me. I could get a Ch. TB and work on my form but ain't nobody got time for that.

Looking like my leading candidates are: new VIP Sword with high PLH, C-D1, Boatman, and Giant (this one looks like it's way more OS than I want if Inbounds is to be trusted).

Inbounds is just plain wrong about the Giant. My VIP giant flips a little bit on a big rip, while my TP Giant stays dead straight. WAY more fade than a sword, but it is an absolutely amazing disc. Into a 20-25mph headwind today my TP Giant flipped a little bit, tracked right ten feet, and then crashed back left and landed about 360-380' out.

The Giant is not a more stable Sword, but it is an absolutely awesome disc.

In Innova flight numbers I'd say
TP Giant: 13 4 0 4
VIP Giant: 13 4 -.5 4

TP is more OS than VIP? Hmm, usually the opposite. Interesting.

I have heard the opposite from other people, and I only have one of each so I won't claim this as a universal law. However, in my case it is definitely true. My TP has a slightly higher plh than my VIP.

^^^ one would think different plastics cool differently, so the type of plastic might result in different plh heights depending on mold shape. My opto furies are more understable than their gold line siblings.

I just got 4 giants, the 175 vip is pure beef. No turn, hard early fade. A FH dream.

The other three are 168, two TP and one VIP. The VIP came with about -1 turn out of the box, a truly awesome workhorse driver. The TP's are both 0 HSS maybe .5 with a nice solid fade.

I'm throwing these 400, maybe a little longer.
