Hey Discers,
I live in Canada and a few friends and I are doing little road trip down the west cost of the states and were wondering if any of you have any input on courses that we have to hit up. We will be driving through Washington, Oregon, and California and want to see what the US has to offer :)

Depending on how far south you intend to travel, I would strongly recommend Oak Grove in Pasadena (home of the original, permanent DGC) and La Mirada. Both have to be on every west coast disc golfer's bucket list.

While in Oregon I would reccomend Hornings Hideout(three private courses that are only $4 for the day and one of them is amazing), Peir Park(gold standard Portland course), Blue Lake(Feldberg designed and very nice.), Dabney Park(shorter and old school but beautifully maintained and very cool), MILO MCIVER( tied for number one on my all time favorites, disc golf heaven), Dexter Park( really pretty and fun course outside Eugene).

Blue Lake, Dabney and Milo are all in the parks system so you have a parking fee, but of you can hit two courses in one day(Dabey/Blue Lake would be easiest) you can save some money.

I haven't played in CA yet, but everyone talks about Golden Gate Park, La Mirada and De La Veaga.

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=35 DeLaveaga is a must play if you're coming to California.

Some of the other good courses in the area are Ryan Ranch (Monterey) http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2803

Stadium Course (Salinas) http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=6728

And Black Mouse (also in the Santa Cruz area) http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=1016
Black Mouse is located on school grounds, so make sure its the weekend or after school hours if you intend to play it.

Have a fun trip

I was down to Monterey over this past weekend. I played most of Ryan Ranch--it was the closest to our hotel--Saturday (holes 1-12) and Sunday (holes 13-18). What I played was definitely worthwhile. Otoh, looking at 19-27, which I didn't have time for, on the map and from a distance on the ground, I don't feel cheated to have missed them.

On the way back to Redding, my wife and I played Black Mouse. It is not very polished, and was quite a work out going up and down, but was challenging, scenic, and shady. I have not played DeLaveaga, though I have watched quite a bit of tournament footage; given my skill level and noodle arm, I am quite happy to have chosen Black Mouse over DeLaveaga.

If you come down the coast, the Eureka/Arcata area has several course. I have only played Humboldt State University there. Like Black Mouse, it is in the shade of Redwood trees. I would consider it a must play if you are driving by.

If you are traveling on I-5, University of OB in Weed, CA, would be a good stop.

The only course in the Redding area that I think might be worth stopping for would be Sacramento River RV Park, but I'm not sure that I would call it a must play, just that it is definitely better than any of the others.

Wherever you stop in Northern California watch out for Poison Oak. However, I have never seen PO at Univ of OB, don't remember any at Humboldt State University, and only saw a little at Black Mouse.

Have a good trip!

Play 27 at Seatac, then drive the 5 minutes to Lakewood, and play the 20 holes there, all good golf.

Play Seatac/Lakewood like Captain Jack said, then drive to Portland, play Horning's Hideout, L.L. Stub Stewart, and Pier Park. Drive to San Francisco area and play Stafford Lake, and Golden Gate park.
Delaveaga is overrated IMNSHO
