Straight and Tight 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 13, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Layout - Overall it's a a brand new short, tight course. It can be a bit of a challenge on some holes because of how tight the fairways are even though most holes are under 300'.

A few holes have two pin positions, the course was in the shorts when I played it.

Most of the fairways are straight and even the ones that bend or force you to work a disc are straight overall.

Some holes do make you throw an S shot or flex a shot out and those holes are usually really short so it creates a bit of a challenge.

Most holes utilize a pinch point gap around mid fairway and the holes that bend usually bend right after a gap.

There is one par 4.

There is some minimal elevation changes on holes but it's mostly gradual.

Equipment - Brand new DGA baskets. Tee signs on all holes that just give you distance. Two holes (1 & 10) have concrete tees.

Atmosphere - It's a brand new huge park, over a 1,000 acres I believe. It goes back and forth between an area of hardwood/pines with a lot of undergrowth to an area that is strictly pines that appeared to have been logged and burned a few years back. All the pines in this area are about 40' tall.

You probably won't encounter a lot of traffic on this course and it doesn't seem to interfere with any other part of the park.

Cons:

Layout - It's quite boring especially on the front 9. As I said it's mostly straighter overall shots that are pretty short. The only challenge is how tight some of the fairways are.

Some of the holes just seem to have to much of a pinch point gap while making you try to work a disc over a really short distance.

The one par 4 which got me excited to see a hole over 400' is just one long straight fairway.

The area where it's all short pines and no undergrowth has a weird feel, almost desert like. On about half of those holes you can just throw over them because the trees are still short.

The biggest elevation change on the course is a transition... really lame.

I'm not really sure who this course is aimed at, if it was to help grow the sport in area with a very low amount of courses and probably players they made it pretty tough with the tight gaps. It's also unlikely many serious players will make regular trips out here due to how short and boring it is.

Other Thoughts:

For a course in the middle of nowhere from a disc golf scene perspective they sure went out of their way to make it one that people will probably not want to drive out and play. Doesn't really make sense with all the land they seem to have at their disposal.

I'll probably never go back out here and play.
