Avalon Park Is A Small Pocket Park With A Disc Golf Course To Match! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 27, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are signs all over pointing the way to Little Avalon Park. Gees, you would think they are directing you to Disneyland or something. The course has restrooms, picnic area, play area and some kind of amphitheater.

Hole # 1 starts right by the parking lot. There are no tee pads but the tee signs are little metal ones which only give the hole #. The baskets are Discatchers with the yellow rims and numbers. This is a pitch and putt course. Most of the holes are in the 100' range.

# 1 is 100' straight ahead and open.
# 2 plays about 125' with the park's boundary fence on your right.
# 3. I never located the sign so I teed off from the most logical place and threw over the amphitheater. It makes a fun little 200' slightly downhill.
# 4 throws off the sidewalk to a basket hidden behind a tree about 110'.
# 5 is about a 125' throw to a basket which sits on a sloping hillside. It's time to show the kids what a rollaways putt looks like. The fence fir the neighbor's homes is on your right side.
# 6 is just a little 80' open Ace run.

Cons:

Pitch and putt course.

Opportunity to throw your disc over the fence on # 2 and especially on # 5.

No tee pads.

Other Thoughts:

What a great little course to start your kids on! Other then the fences, there's very little chance of getting in trouble. Rec players and above might want to come here and chase Aces but other than that, it's strictly for beginners. And it's perfect for us course baggers, too.

Neighborhood Practice Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 10, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are 6 targets in a grassy little park with plenty of shade.

Course plays in a counter clockwise direction from the first tee.

I had the whole park to myself on a Saturday. If there are any other park users, you may not be able to play some of the holes.

There are full service restrooms with running water by the first tee.

Perfect course to bring even the youngest along. There is a nice shady kids playground as the main feature. You can always practice putting while the kiddos play.

Cons:

Very short course designed for kids and neighbors, not for experienced disc golfers.

Might be possible to lose discs over the back yards that border the course.

While the grounds are very well maintained, there are signs of vandalism all around the park. Tees and targets have ink and stickers. The tee sign for Hole 4 is missing. Only the pole remains.

Other Thoughts:

I only wrote the review because there wasn't one and I wanted to let fellow disc golfers know what's up.

This is a practice course, this is not a full disc golf course. I will rate it as a practice course. 6 playable holes is better than zero. It is a little rough around the edges, I will give it a passing grade.
