Pros:

Playing around the edges of the school land, Basehor's course has quite a bit of ground to cover, but does so with unique holes and uses of elevation.

Each hole has a tee sign and distance. The baskets are very clean Mach7s that have a lot more catching capability than the last set I played, probably due to being newer.

Being challenged on how to land your disc is one of the main challenges – a skill not often tested on school 9'ers. 1, 3, and 4 all are perched on fairly precarious hillsides, and 8 has some OB if you skip too far... it is bad that said OB is a road but, still a challenge.

Trees are used well throughout. Guarding the right lines of 5 and 7 and the left line of 8, while forcing a low shot on 3.

Cons:

Since my compatriot Pevio has already gone over the distances, I decided to track time. My total play time (at my normal pace, no rushing) from teeing on 1 to landing in the basket of 9 was 22:06. The time spent walking between holes was 10:02. That's an unfortunate 45.4% of the time spent walking between holes. All this to say, this likely would have been better as a 12-hole course. The space is there.

OB roads loom on 2, 6, 8, and 9. 9's is unfortunate because it's a decent finishing hole, but the danger of flinging one into the road on the left and hitting a car parked at the duplexes is going to force a lot of people to baby the shot and come up short. 7 plays close to a gaga ball pit, so hopefully that's not in use since an early tree kick could end up endangering that area.

Holes 1 and 2 aren't much to write home about. Fairly open, their main negative is that they both tee on downslopes. Luckily you don't need much of a run-up and there's a sidewalk to tee from on 2.

Hole 5 has some sort of greenhouse tent right before the land rises back to the pin. It's right at the distance to be nailed by an amateur arm, so hopefully it goes away after the winter

The blind "around the hill" shot on 6 is not a good hole. And the space is there to have made this a par 4. It would have been a bland par 4, but any par 4 would be better than this.

Other Thoughts:

While there are some good holes here, there's also room for even more good holes here. It's unfortunate the course designers felt restricted by the traditional number of holes. Or maybe that's the maximum number of baskets the school would pay for, I don't know.

Should you play here, as an add on to another nearby course? Sure, why not? More disc golf is always better. But is it worth going out of your way to hit this one? No.

The walks are longer than the holes

Pros:

Playing around multiple school buildings, this course uses specific trees and hillsides to provide a different challenge on every hole. Tee signs show the distance and a rough map of the hole, and are pretty easy to see from a distance, so navigation is straightforward once you know where hole one is and you know the course plays clockwise around the buildings.

It might not be expected from this sort of course, but there's actually a decent bit of elevation change. It's slightly different on each hole, and it's the main point of the hole several times. Even sideslopes are fairly common.

This course does a good job providing OB challenge while not making it too oppressive. A safe shot will always be fine, but there are opportunities to go across roads or sidewalks several times, but it's not bad enough to be truly dangerous.

Nearly every tree on the property is used as a challenge on some hole, and the shot shapes they make you throw vary significantly. A right-to-left shot is better on 3 and 8, while a left-to-right is better on 5 and 7.

Cons:

While I understand the layout, it's pretty ridiculous. The total hole distance is around 2200 feet, but the distance between holes (including 9 back to 1) is around 2900 feet. In other words, adding holes in the gaps would theoretically make an 18 hole course. Sure, the holes themselves are decent, but the effort you put into walking this place does not compensate the challenge you're given. As a result, a quick round here is almost impossible.

A few holes are really boring. Hole 1 has just about nothing to it, and the one tiny tree on 2 doesn't affect anything except your vision on an ace run. Holes 6 and 8 shouldn't be too difficult once you understand what's required.

The baskets of 3 and 6 can't be seen from the tee. It is because the hills are the main point of those holes, but it's really hard to dial in the distance. And hole 3 is too oppressive on making you throw wide right and finish left, and have the basket on a hill. There should have been at least two holes on that hillside.

The OB can be a problem if it's windy, and putting discs places they're not supposed to go is possible. It's a challenge that some holes would otherwise be lacking, but it's better to not have too much school infrastructure in the way.

Tees are grass, but it's not a big deal here. Also, there's no parking right by hole 1. You're walking a decent distance no matter where you start, so the course really could start anywhere, but it's still not fun walking at least 400 feet just to find the first tee.

Other Thoughts:

Considering that you're walking along the perimeter of around 29 acres and you're only getting nine okay holes, I don't see how this could be a go-to course for anyone, even high school students or players who live in the area. Come here if you're a bagger, but that's about it.

While I appreciate the specific design decisions that were put into this course, I think it would be better if it was only on the west side of the school. It might make for some boring holes, but would be much more fun to play in a short amount of time, and much more fun to play multiple times.
